I had a really interesting day today!
I started out by going to the orthodontist and getting my braces off- it feels great!
Next I went to my dad's office and learned how to weld and cut. First I drove the forklife over and got the huge, long thing of 1/2" think pipe with a 12" diameter. Plasma cutter didn't work on that, so I learned how to use the Oxy/Acetlyne torch. I had a 12" long piece of pipe then. Next I cut and welded on a back to the pipe, which was only 1/4, so I could cut that with the plasma cutter. I arc- welded that on, then arc welded on the legs, and then cut out a door for the front. I love welding, and I'm not all that bad at it either. In a day or so I'll have pics, where you can see my progession in welding as you spin the forge.
Anyway- by now this thing weighs quite a bit. So I loaded it into the bed of my dad's truck, and we drive home happily. We get home and I decided to take it out. I didn't get a secure enough grip, and it slipped. Fell on my right, big toe. Apparently it has a fracture.
Today's Accomplishments:
-Braces off
-Forge shell built (sloppily- but it'll work)
-Learned to weld and cut
-Broke/fractured my first bone
-Learned an important lesson about making sure that you have a secure hold on heavy objects
