My Axis Lock 710BT just came in the mail. I love this knife!! I sharpened it using Joe Talmadge's method (Except the roughing up part, I carve, I don't want a blade that slices.) I think I need to practice more because it didn't work very well yet. I can't get the motions with the recurved blade on my sharpmaker. Practice, practice, practice!

P.S. I love this Knife!!!!

Just got my 710BT last week - LOVE it!
However, I'm going to wait untill I dull
(beyond steeling) that factory edge before
tackling that recurved blade on the 204.

Hello King of Groove,
I also have the Axis 710BT. IMHO the best folder ever made and time will prove me correct.
This may not be the best blade, but I can't wait to see what's next for the Axis lock.
Easy to open with the thumb stud, the lock bar or your pocket by cathing the bottom thumb stud on your pocket when drawing.
To close, point blade up, pull lockbar back all the way and push your hand forward. If you flick the blade forward it sometimes bounces and will not close on the first try.

I really enjoy my 710 Axis plain edge,But recently I picked up a 720 axis Mel Perdue and I think I like it better. Not quite as big but has a nice feel and a good blade shape.

That is a sweet lock. I like the fact that I can see exactly what's holding the blade. Even if something bad happens to the spring, the blade is still locked open. I'm not sure if it's as strong as the rolling lock, but that's a matter of degree.

I received a 720 on Monday. I have been pleased with the performance, good shape and size with the sharpest edge I have received on a Benchmade in several years. I had it bought off of me by a left handed co-worker tonight and will have to replace it to give the lock a proper workout as intended.
