My grandpa used to work for smith and wesson and he kept some of the knifes he made and one of the ones he made is a lockback folder with wood handles and the lock back is too stiff to use what do i do and i'm really worried about damaging the knife. Pls help! btw its a brass pin construction so i can't take it apart easily otherwise i would.

Slow and easy is the way to go. If the knife is collectable or if you have a mind to sell it do not do anything to change the finish or patina.

I would start off soaking that backspring and lock in oil for a few days. A spray gun cleaner and a qtip or pipe cleaner to get the gunk out first before soaking in oil might be in order.

will that damage the wood?
and no i'm not gonna sell them

btw 5 of the knifes including one being talked about were hand made by him. And one of the other knifes is the knife replica in from rambo 3 and its in original condition in the box and everything,
