I have to tell you Leatherman make excellent quality tools. Man they are awesome!! I have never owned a mulit-tool, even though I hike and backpack almost every weekend. I know, I know, how can I go packing without a multi-tool, stupid I know. I usually take my BM 550 griptilian and KaBar USMC bowie. I will definately use this little bad boy.

At first I was a little concerned about the quality and build of such a small multi-tool and the tolls being too small to use effectively. But I was throughly mistaken. This thing is built like a tank!! Don't let the size fool you. It has everything I need, except a diamond, darn.:thumbdn:

Anyone with different experiences?

Hi cboglio,
I have carried various Leatherman tools over the past 14 years and found them to be excellent. I have the CS4 that you describe, and like the tool except for the lack of locking blades. I recently purchased the Leatherman Blast and it is my EDC. It has locking blades that can be accessed individually, and it reminds me a bit of my PST II tool. I have carried Victorinox Swiss Army Knives in the pase, and while they are easy to sharpen and have many tools, I have had problems with the liners bending. Case in point, tonight, I accidently dropped my one-hand Trekker on a tile floor from waist height and the liner for the can opener bent. This was a Christmas present from my daughter so I think it will be retired. I have never had this problem with a Leatherman. They are like "timex"; they take a licking and keep on ticking. Only problem I have had is getting a good edge on the blade. I use a Gatco sharpener, and can get a serviceable edge, but it is not hair-shaving sharp. However, it is very sharp and suits my needs, and requires little maintenance, so I guess there is a trade-off. Anyway, glad to hear you purchased a Leatherman, I'm sure you will not be disapointed!
Best regards,
Neil

I bought a Leatherman CS4 when Target was clearing them out for about $7.50. I own and EDC larger multitools so I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised by the CS4 quality.

Went back to the store and bought another CS4. Sent it to my brother as a gift. He called to say how impressed he was with the quality, too.

But, I wish it had a file instead of a corkscrew.
