A Manix and Mini-Manix. Both have a combo edge which is not my favorite but those combo edges are significantly less expensive so I felt like I did well on both.

Here they are:

Rob ya couldn't just buy one could ya :p They sure look pretty darn nice. I held my self off, from ordering , will most likely regret it though.
There's just so many new Spydies,a fella has trouble deciding witch one to purchase next.

What do you think of the CF Manix 2 Rob?

How does it rate against your Para?

P.S. Just noticed the CBBL is all the way forward on one and only half on the other. Is that normal?

Disregard the the CBBL question, I just saw your other thread. Still interested to know your thoughts in relation to the Para.

Regards.

I am really liking the Manix2, it's a tank.
The lockup is very tight, similiar to the Para, if not better. It has very good ergos too.

I still favor the Para though because it has a glass smooth opening, and the compression lock is easier to open/close one handed. The CBBL on the Manix2 is difficult to operate one handed.

The Manix2 will definitely make it into my EDC rotation, however, I doubt it will replace the Para's top spot. :)

Yep, that #4 and #5 for me in Spyderco knives. Oh I have a Cara Cara too if that counts. I showed the other three earlier in the Persistance thread. I like the mid-lock so I decided to grab these two. I think there is a Millie and Para in the future too.

The smallie...caught that one end of July on the Androscoggin River. It was just shy of 4lbs and measured 19 inches. Nice jumper too. Pound for pound Smallies are hard to beat as a sports fish.

Rob, do you have a picture of your Para next to your Manix's?

2 spydies in one day ? sweeeet

About 3 weeks ago, I pulled the trigger on a Sage II and Lum Chinese at the same time from NG.

Its the only way to ride.

As an addict, you have to keep increasing the dosage to keep getting that warm feeling of Spydie love coursing through your veins, you know?

totally agree :D

Thanks Rob. I keep thinking the Para is bigger than it really is. I wonder if I'll like the lock system. Only way to know is to try it. :)

OK, a question about why a combo edge is so much cheaper than a plain edge...WHY!!!
A P.E. Mini and Manix just sold for $60 premiums over what I just paid for my two (which is was about the same as some other recent combo sales). I mean I prefer a PE and have heard that they are more collectable but geez $160 vs $105 in the case of my mini...that's significant.

Just wondering if someone could put it into words for me as I'm just ramping up this new interest in Spydercos and still learning the fine points.

Some people think the any serrations on a knife make it nearly impossible to sharpen. Some like me find combo edges ascetically unappealing.

I watched the video that came with my Sharpmaker and Sal convinced me I could easily sharpen a combo blade. But yes I was previously leary of then for that reason. I also get the appearance issue too...but a 50% premium. Anyway thanks for your comment Rycen.

I went and bought myself a Digital Camo Millie tonight.
This is starting to get real fun :)

I may wait on the Para. Someone on the forum said Sal has mentioned a Para II with a 3.5 inch blade....now that sounds real interesting.

BTW, does my Cara Cara count as a Spyderco knife? Just thinking I'd leave it out of the little photo shoot of my small but growing family Spydies.

I bought one of Rob's (5.56) Manix 2s on Sunday, one of the best knives ergonomically ever made imo. Seems to be about the best most useful knife I've ever handled.

So you admit it's better than your SNG ergonomically?

I see a Para in your future.
