Glad you succombed to the urge. It reminds me once again what a breathtaking rig that is, and how lucky we are to have Yvsa around to advance the state of the art. If you or Yvsa or anybody else who's got one are of a mind to post pix, I'll always consider it a treat.

Now you guys are gonna make me blush.

Something funny I got to thinking about the other day.
The YCS and her tool's are a very good example of the kamis taking us so very literal.

Notice the punch.....
See how it doesn't have any inlay in the handle?..... And see that it's Not Silver Mounted?.....
I didn't think of it at the time, but I didn't glue any inlay pattern on it and I didn't paint the mountings aluminium color to represent silver.
So we got exactly what I made and Uncle Bill sent over.

I painted the khukuri completely down to the brass and copper inlays in the Sword of Shiva and glued all the little inlays on the handles of it and the kardas as well as drawing in the rivets.

So anyone making a prototype and "decideing" to paint it needs to paint everything down to each detail wanted.

(Uncle Bill told me Not to paint the AK Bowie, the 1st prototype I did and perhaps that was the reason.)

Actually this worked out good like so many things do. In the ndn way of making something it is made the very best possible with the very best possible materials.
But there will Always be at least One Thing Wrong!!!!

And it cannot easily be seen as in bead work, for example, somewhere in that mass of beads in a very inconspicuous place there will be "One Bead" that does not match any other color on the piece. And they're Very Hard to see, as sometimes a "greasy yellow" bead will be put in among a "bright yellow" piece, same with an off white in a pure white and, well y'all get the gist of it.

The idea of it is that only the Great Mystery can make something Absolutely Perfect.
And that we as human beings should always try to reach perfection, but not so much that we overstep our boundaries.

Yvsa --- I love it that way! --- The One Thing Wrong Concept make all of us very much alive --- our elders said that the moment somebody say Perfect or Nothing Wrong At All it actually means that he is at his dead end! Yes ... of course! The One Thing Wrong Peception is Allaah's blessing in disguise to all of mankind!

I love YCS! Insyaa-Allaah! It is going to be in my hand some day in the near future ... time to save few bucks in my peggybank!

NEPAL HO!

To me this speaks of self knowledge. If we are perfect, if we know it all, what is there left to learn?

Humility is an opposite attitude, coming from the latin root "humus" or fertile/rich soil. To me humility means cherishing the seeds the Creator has planted and giving them what they need to grow. Humility is the willingness to learn and improve. And maybe provide the Creator with a good bellylaugh as he watches our imperfect efforts. (So much for today's theological discussion).

Roger,

I look forward even more to my YCS SE. Now if the Khukuri Gods hear my plea....

BTW, Jim Clifton looks like he succumbed to HIKV in ordering a plain version YCS....Uncle Bill, upgrade Jim to the standard fancy model please!

I think this may be a common practice in many cultures. I had a spanish teacher in high school who had defected from cuba decades earlier. On the rare occasions where I managed to get a perfect score on a test, she would downgrade me 1 point to a 99%. Her stated reason was "Only Jesus is perfect, honey."

Koz,
Thanks for "YOUR HELP"!How have I managed to get by without you & "THAT"NDN
for so long! YOU ALL ARE AS "NUTS" as my buddy VINCE!I "STILL" HAVE TO "THINK" ABOUT GETTING ONE!Mind you I haven't made up my mine "YET"!

I think you’re right Ski. I recall reading in one of Lafcadio Hearn’s books on Japan of an exquisitely carved portal, with one part of the carving inverted. Same rationale.

Jim, all things are relative...and besides, what is there to think about getting a khukuri? You see it, you want it , you order it and you get it. Simple enough if you ask me.

Not trying to steal any of Uncle's thunder, but I've got a couple Khuk's listed in the for sale forum. Just a couple I really don't "connect" with. Helps to make room for more
