I just have to say this...

I know I'm not saying anything new here, and nothing that most of you don't already know, but I would be remissed if I didn't get this off my chest. I have been without use of my Izula for about the past week now, and decided to start carrying my 3MIL on me as my EDC blade in its place. I originally intended to use this as more of a "duty" knife to be mounted on web gear or a tac vest, but the more I handle this thing the more I fall in love with it. Absolutely perfect size and balance for EDC, blade is under the 4" mark so I don't have to worry about legal issues in most places, and it just feels so right. I have a hard time leaving it in it's sheath because its just so fun to fondle and play around with. I am very very pleased with this knife and just wanted to put this out there for anyone who may be contemplating the purchase.

That is all... I know I'm a dork.

I'm sitting here waiting for my 3-MIL to show up in the mail today as we speak.....Dork's Unite!!

What's the difference between the 3MIL and the regular 3? I went to the ESEE web site and couldn't find it.

3MIL has canvas micarta scales and a sharpened pomel

3's have linen scales and an unsharpened pomel.

also you get the molle back sheath included in the price and all that jazz.

glad i'm not the only one who is loving this thing so far, although i'm really not surprised.

Thanks guys.

I have the sharpened pommel, probably linen micarta scales, no serial # and it came with the Molle back, so what's that make it?

FWIW, when I ordered it from Bill at Cumberland Knives, he said that I was getting the first RC-3 (after R.A.T.) I don't know if he meant from him or period. Maybe they were changed after the first few runs?

i could be wrong but i don't think the SN started until it became ESEE. do you have the pointed pommel or sharpened "glass breaker" pommel? you can by the standard esee/rc-3 models with the molle back, they are just usually a couple extra bucks. i'm guessing you have an rc-3, but would have to see a pic. it would say "rc-3 mil" on the blade if you have the mil version.

I definitely love mine. There are several threads around here that I have done with mine, and the SN started before they were ESEE.

I too have found my self carrying my 3 more frequently than the IZULA. I did drill holes and mount a small Tek-Lock on the sheath though. Easy on, easy off and secure. It is a great EDC.

I'm thinking they didn't have a model designated as the 3MIL, when they first came out.

I really like the Izula line, but the 3 line is great!

I am trying to connect mine to a BTK (BladeTech Klip) as we speak, but I'm unsure about a couple of the pieces in the kit. I used to have it connected to MOLLE webbing on a bag of mine, but I'm going to start carrying it on the small of my back.

you can see in this picture which two holes the BTK attaches to, the two middle ones towards the front. the top screw is one of the longer ones (1/2in) and the bottom is a shorter one (1/4in). i fed the screws through the clip, then the rubber washers, then into the sheath with the well nuts on the front side of the sheath.

In having handled all the ESEE line, I really think it's a dead heat between that and the HEST for EDC.
Mainly because of the various tools on board (wire thingy, bottle opener, etc.), I think that the HEST's slightly shorter blade (in comparison to the RC3) is compensated for by overall functionality.
YMMV.

The 3-MIL was my first ESEE and remains my favorite. I got mine partially serrated, because I'm like that.

I've been EDCing my new Izula 2 for the past three weeks, but this past week I went back to the 3Mil. I'll be rotating the two, but I just cant replace the 3Mil
