I just lost my most expensive knife!

I've been buying knives for over 30 years, and until yesterday, only lost 2 of them. Those were lost over 20 years ago, and I've since overpayed to rebuy them on the secondary market because it bothered me so much. Yesterday I took my new $420 pre-ordered Kunwu Excalibur in my truck while running errands. It's a noisy bastard, so I wouldn't bother anyone with constant flicking in my truck. Somewhere along the way, I think it fell out of my pocket or truck, but it didn't make it home with me and I'm super pissed. I've torn the house and garage up on the off chance it's still around, and even checked in the snow around my front yard, even though I know it isn't there. Technically, I have more invested in a few other knifes with upgrades and mods, but this was my first Titanium integral and I was still in my honeymoon phase with it. Can someone tell me a worse story so I don't feel as bad?

Sorry to hear that!!!! Sucks. Maybe you’ll find it hiding somewhere in the truck.

I had my Marathon GSAR stolen out of my truck when a garage was working on it. It was probably one of my absolute favorite watches. Didn’t realize it was gone until a week later, and then put it all together that it was stolen. Also, I have no idea where my Shiro Neon went. Really liked that knife. Gone and I have searched everywhere high and low multiple times.

Keep looking in the truck. Items can find great little hidding spots. I once spent an hr. Looking for keys I dropped in a shopping center before getting out of the vehicle. Drove me nuts, but I finally found it's hidding spot.

I would say to turn the truck upside down and inside out. It may very well be there. I have found lost knives multiple times with the folded knife slapped up against the runner for the seat belt, because the pocket clip had somehow gotten slipped over the seat belt and when I removed the belt, it pull the knife outta my pocket and it remained attached to the seat belt! This could have happened to you. Also, if there's snow on the ground, I would absolutely go back to all the places you visited today. You might find the knife lying in the snow in the parking lot! People tend not to look down, and if there's any sort of ground cover, the knife could very well still be there. Just some ideas, don't give up yet! That was a $400 knife!

My cousin lost his brand new small Inkosi last year. Few months later his sister in law found it in her yard while she was out mowing.
As others have stated. I would scour the area you were at and in your truck. I also have had knives get clipped to seatbelts in not to find them later.

I once had a knife get clipped to a case of pop that I picked up and carried in the house. Few days later I found it when going to grab one!

I once lost a Zero Tolerance 0801BW. I looked everywhere for it, before realizing I most likely left it at someone’s house. Never heard anything back from the dude, so who knows. But not sure I would’ve either way as it wasn’t a very close or good friend. Not a $400 knife, but not a cheap one either for me.
I hope you end up finding your Excalibur, and as someone said it could still be in the snow, hopefully. I would look again in the daytime with a clear head. Good luck

I lost a knife, looked everywhere could not find it, gave up. 1 and 1/2 years later while turning on the hose to water the plants, it suddenly appeared stuck in the bush next to the hose bib. Tool it in the house the only thing wrong was the bearings had seized up. Cleaned it up poped in some new bearings and it was just like it was when I lost it.

Thanks!!!! I'm inspired....I will keep looking! It is full DLC coated and my truck is murdered out as well. I lost my Militaw earlier this year and had a feeling I remember hearing something fall in the yard. I went out with a flashlight to help me look and found it in my front yard. I'm so crazy about losing things, I have a list of everything I've ever lost. It's oddly therapeutic for me to make lists and I know most of the things on that list were likely donated by my wife to charity. To her credit, she honestly doesn't recall doing this, but I'm soft of an organization freak and I DO NOT LOST shit very often!

That's an awesome story!

Buy another one and you’ll find it a few days after.
Actually.....that reminds me. I have lost a third knife. Civivi Vision. Had that for only a few days and have NO CLUE what happened to it. After a few weeks I bought it again because I really liked how it sounds when snicking that one open. I thought that would the first one show up, but still holding out hope for that one. If I find it, I'll hit you back up on this thread and send it to you! LOL! That one didn't feel as painful and Amazon prime fixed it quickly.

Ouch....so there is hope! I may call a few of the stores I visited in case someone found it in the parking lot. I can't let this go easily.

I absolutely 2nd everybody else's opinion about retracing your steps and checking on the ground.

Like many others with similar stories, I once lost my Quiet Carry Waypoint. Was gone for like 3 or 4 months and I had honestly forgotten about it. Was mowing and clearing brush towards the back of the property one day and just happend to look down and poof, there it was, just laying in the grass almost half a year later lmao..

Only personally valuable one I've "lost" is a SAK boy scout edition my pops gave me when I made Eagle. I keep hoping it will turn up, but it hasn't yet. Otherwise I lost a dpx triple black to TSA once.

I’ve heard of a neat idea: tie lanyards with fluorescent/GITD paracord or beads on dark colored knives. Adds a splash of color and if lost, use a UV flashlight to light up the cord or bead.

I could but won't... but your loss is laughably trivial to my reckoning .

But even so , I've mostly lost only material things and not my precious loved ones , who are truly irreplaceable .

I know of many others , that have lost so much more , that I'm ashamed to feel sorry for myself .

So I'm forced to be thankful ,and appreciate , the blessings I still enjoy . 🙏

This should make you feel better. My ex wife cheated on me and when I found out about it she made up some crap and had me arrested and jailed for 4 days. In those 4 days she took 70k out of our business account. Took my truck and all my firearms. I couldn't get any of it back due to a RO. In the divorce the judge ruled she could keep everything she took plus some. Few years later I saw her and the guy she cheated on me with driving around in my truck. So I'd say you got off lucky just losing a knife.

I had a Spyderco Salt that I attached to my waders when I went waterfowl hunting. Lost it about 4 years ago and could not find it anywhere. Last year when I was tidying up my decoy bags, it was at the bottom buried under about a dozen decoys. I have no idea how it got there to this day.
