Not sure what it is about this production knife, but I like everything about them! Sorry I'm a horrible photographer!

I think the 630 and the 425 were two of the best-made and best-designed knives Benchmade ever sold. Not necessarily best materials - just best knives. And that from a guy who bought one of the first 710s and still really likes the Axis lock...

Nice collection!!! I have one I picked up secondhand, it's a BEAST!!! Great knife in my experience with it!! Pics to follow

Yep! I've gone back and forth over and over debating on selling them and getting a Sebbie or another custom, but just can't bring myself to do it. I hate selling knives to begin with and know I'd regret letting these go, even if they are productions.

I picked up 635 in a gun store in Athens GA. this past summer. Just sittin there NIB for less then $300. bucks. One of those great deals other folks are always finding. I felt mighty lucky. As it works out, it has become one of my favorites. Just an excellent feeling knife to me. I would like to pick up the larger one someday if I find one....:D:thumbup:

I actually got the bottom 635 from Clyde's here in Athens. I know a few of the guys there and asked if I could dig through their new "old" stock and found it. It was the last one buried way in the back.

Gotta say, my Skirmish is like the hot girl you love to be with, but not take home to mom. To me it's a beautiful knife in a slutty sort of way. Great curves, top quality, but way over the top!

The Mini is what got me sucked into knife addiction. It was all down hill from there.:D

I can't believe I didn't like them when they were still being made. Now I feel like an idiot because I can't find any new ones anywhere. At least not for a reasonable price.

It's as close as you can get to custom and only pay a production price. I haven't
handled one, but from the images you can tell. I do own several benchmades so
I know the quality is top notch.

I have two; its a brilliant design by Galyean that carries much smaller than seems possible given the size of it. Tall flat ground blade is a wonderful slicer and good for all sorts of foot prep as well as an excellent defensive size and shape. Watch the lock though - if the geometry isn't quite right a sharp rap on the back of the blade can disengage the lock. Its a risk for all frame and liner locks but my specific Skirmish has the problem so I thought I'd mention it.

I've often wondered if the sebenza or umnumzaan would give me the same filling I get from my skirmish. I'm still not sure I understand why it was discontinued.
Need to bring that one back.....630 or die!

I know what you mean, brother. I have three Mini's now, and I'm always looking for the next one. . . .

Lots of blade for the package, super smooth opening, and the ergo's are perfect for my hand.

I love the mini Skirmish too. I got one last year and have loved it ever since. Honestly I don't carry it very much for some strange reason but I'm always fondling it when at the house. I think its mainly because I usually don't like recurves but I must admit that this one is beautifully executed and really pulls whatever you're cutting into the edge. The titanium slabs on my mini are thicker than almost all my other Ti framelocks too.

Dude that limited edition mini with the anodized scales and holes like on the large Skirmish is awesome!

The Skirmish line is a Blackwood design not Galyean.

I, too, fell for the Skirmish after it was dropped. I did luck into one late winter '09, after buying the last 635 - a BK - that I could find new locally. The 630 was new from a dealer via Evil-bay - at a great price. Last month, I bought another 630 - for a similar song and in LN shape. One thing better than a Skirmish - a spare! I carry more often now. My favorite Benchmade - more favored here than my 760 & 790, too. Very well made.

Now, is it 'the best'? The ZT-301 I have is perhaps more stout. The CRK/Wilson Combat Umnumzaan I commemorated my retirement with is probably closer to perfection (It should be for what it cost!). That ZT and my Benchmade 790 Subrosa have assisted opening, perhaps a plus to some (... not to me!). For all around EDC, however, that Skirmish is a hard act to follow.

I've wanted a large Skirmish in satin finsh blade since the day I saw it. I don't know why I always find out about these cool knives after they're discontinued?

I never saw one until a few months ago. Just like the Rukus, I saw it and wanted it = discontinued! :(

I had two of the big ones and three minis and sold them all. I wanted to love them, but for a couple of reasons I just couldn't.

I bought a 630 from a dude on JD. He mailed it to me by priority mail....

when I got it the box was Empty. Someone from the USPS stole it. It was

insured. I would much rather had the Skirmish than my $ back. :(

That really sucks. :barf: I hope they catch the guy if they haven't already.
