I certainly hope that it's as nice a pocket knife as it looks. (I selected it over a Buck two-blade model.) If it hold an edge better than their Tru Sharp steel, I'll be a happy camper.

Does anyone have any light to shed on the advantages/disadvantages of the Chrome Vanadium blades vs. Tru Sharp?

I have several Trappers in that configuration

I can get them VERY sharp on the Sharpmaker-----slice a few apples for a quick patina on the blade

CV takes a nice patina, easier to sharpen, holds an edge a little better.
Check out the Traditional forum, which is full of Case, carbon steel, and legume aficionados!

I carry a yellow CV peanut frequently. Mine has excellent fit and finish.
CV does hold an edge better than Tru-Sharp.
CV does rust if you don't take care of it.

Enjoy!

PS. Do feel free to share it in the Traditional Forum as well. We have a lot of folks in the "peanut gallery" as it were.

A fine choice. It's a little smaller than I really like to carry, but every knife knut should have a peanut. :D
