I JUST ORDERED a COLD STEEL OYOBUN

I saw the CS Oyobun online and Knife Depot had it at a good price so I ordered one.
The reviews online were good even the reviews that weren't shilling for Amazon.
Anyone have a Oyobun.......thoughts.
 
Congrats! I don't have the knife, but I trust you'll get a good knife from CS. If it were a 4" blade, I would consider it, but at 3.5", I prefer a different pattern than the tanto. Also, I generally stick with tri-ad lock from Cold Steel. I just got a Range Boss, and I like it!
 
have the 4034 cheap one. not great. kinda blah overall in all aspects.

haven't seen the higher end one yet myself, so it maybe much better?

Great! I have been hearing good things about Cold Steel and thought I would buy one.
Yeah..... I know if you like tanto blades your kind of an oddball on the forum.
 
My thoughts.....if you like the Tanto blade style and flippers great. But it's OYABUN.
Cold Steel has been using the Yakuza Oyabun(boss)/Kobun(soldier)names for a tanto fixed blade series for decades.
 
Your right it is Oyabun.......thank you for correcting my mistake.
As for how long Cold Steel has been using the.........I did not know that.
Learning something new everyday.

Looks like the same knife only with upgraded steel and a name on the blade? That and about 4x the price.

i was basing this guess on another cold steel example..as in the bushranger lite is a blah knife, the Bush Ranger upgraded is a fantastic knife....

so I haven't seen the upgraded model of this one yet..maybe its great?

I know the 4034 version of this knife and it isn't great, as I own one. dont own the other can't compare myself.
