I just ordered a grinder

You payed $330 for a 1 inch wide grinder? have you seen how wide the belts are? IMO the 2x72 grizzly is better.

Make sure you have good Ventilation system. This is major safety problem IMHO.

Thanks, Vassili.

stop the order... i think even a 2 x 42 sears would be better

I second that 100%. If your willing to spend $500+, forget that 2x48 and get a Grizzly 2x72. The Grizz has a buffer instead of a grinding wheel, but you can easily do profiling on the belt and you may find you like the buffer.

OR save about $400 and get a Sears 2x42. Both the Sears(Craftsman) and the Grizzly are hella fast, but you can find a much better variety/quality of belts for either. Especially the 2X72.

Next time ask first, spend later. :D Shoot me a pm or email if you have any questions, bro!

I think my next purchase will be a Sears 2x42. Before that, I need to buy a drill press and vice. I bought the grinder first because I can wave a knife much easier on it than using cut off wheels in my Dremel.

:eek:Oh dear God,he has a grinder now?!?!Imagine the atrocities he can create with it!!The Horror!!!

:p:D

Skip the 1"; get you a Craftsman 2x42 AND a tabletop drill press, and stock up on belts and bits for the same cost. Even if you have an unlimited budget for tools, you need to consider bench-space. You can run 1x42 belts on the Craftsman if you want. It's just plain dumb to buy a 1x42 and a 2x42.

Use the drill press and cut-off-wheels in your Dremel (or a hacksaw... one day you'll decide you want a bandsaw) for profiling. You don't need the bench-grinder on that over-priced 1".

In that case my next will be a 2x72 :D

Speaking of Dremel... Mine emits a nasty burnt pubic hair kinda smell. Reese says it's the coating on the wire burning off. He recommends a Fordom with the IV tree. DDR recommends a Black n Decker. What is the Emerson of rotary tools?

Good choice! Can I come visit and use it? I'll bring enough steel for both of us. :) Say hello to Diane for me, bro.

Anytime you come to CA, I have a spare room so you can stay a while. I also make a batch of fried rice (hash optional) that will make you slap your momma! BTW, Diane thanks you for what we were talking about Sunday night :D She had to call in sick the next day :D

How do you know how that smells like?
