Good, bad, ugly? I order it because of what Stumpy72 said in the post midtech and high end folders. Does anyone own one? Do you like it?

I've got one and like it very much.

I'm generally not a fan of all Ti knives but the Real Steel Megalodon 2017 is (or was a "steal") at just $200 for a knife made of M390 steel and Ti scales. Fit and finish on mine are great, fits great in my hand and pocket and the flipper action is smooth as silk. It really doesn't get much better than that.

The Megalodon was made with roller bearings when it was a new model. RS lost their source of roller bearings, so the Megalodon was changed over to ball bearings. I’m not sure when that change was made, but I have one of each and I think they’re excellent knives. I can feel the difference between the deployment and closing of my two, but the difference is minor and difficult to notice. I can guess correctly which one I’m handling ~90% of the time, but it’s a difficult call and not at all a major difference.

I’d be very surprised if you're disappointed by the RS Megalodon.

I just got a solid deal on a megalodon so when it arrives I’ll offer my opinion.

Thats interesting. I have one of the new production metamorphs and its on the roller style bearings.

It still seems weird seeing that knife called Megalodon...because the one I have is a Boiling. Couldn't bring myself to get rid of it when I last went through my folders.

After just a few minutes with the megalodon, I have to say that it’s a pretty nice knife for the money, it’s surprisingly light and svelt for the size. Now if I hadn’t have gotten the deal I did and had to pay retail I would surely go with the zt 450, but I already own the 454. M390 is great but s35vn suits me just fine, besides I love made in the usa and zt.

I got the RS Megalodon 2017 today. Man, talk about some knife! The blade is centered, it locks up perfect, and opens smooth as silk. I think I like it better than the sebenza's I have owned. It sure does open smoother. Man, it feels good in the hand. May have to order a spare.Lol Stumpy was right about these knives.

I've got one coming Friday. Pretty excited about it.

Glad to hear you like it. I bought mine during my ~4” flipper phase. I’m long past that phase now, but I still like my Megs a lot. I doubt I’ve ever bought a better “value for the dollar” knife.

Can you put a lanyard on these knives? I tried to put one on through the small sleeve with the hole in it that is at the back of the knife where the clip is connected but could not get it to go through.

The Megalodon is a great value knife for what you get. I have one of the roller bearing versions and was impressed with everything about the knife except one thing. The cutout for the lock bar makes it unnecessarily difficult to put in the pocket. I've been tempted to fill in that cutout somewhat with some epoxy or something similar to help the pocketing troubles, but I haven't gotten around to it since I generally carry ~3" blade knives nowadays.

If you’re using standard 550 paracord, you may need to remove at least a couple of the interior strings to enhance the “squeezability” of the cord to get it through that hole. It also might help to cut the end of the cord at a sharp angle and sear it to make a hard, pointy end on it to get it started through the hole. If neither of these moves helps, you may need to try a smaller diameter paracord. Paracord Galaxy has a good variety of different diameter cords in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Good luck with your quest.

I own a 2017 also and really enjoy it. good looking, comfortable in hand, primo materials, nice weight for the size/materials (all ti) and the show scale is heavily milled internally so for a large folder it carries well, solid lockup, fairly thin BTE, and the action WOW! Second smoothest bearing flipper knife I own behind my CKF Makosha. After some tuning and nano 10w lube it simply drops shut under the weight of the blade! Picked mine up for 170 shipped as well new from a dealer sale a couple months ago after Stumpy helped coerce the purchase haha! Great knife imo.
