Hi all,

I'm a bit new to the CR forum. I purchased a Small Classic left handed Sebenza yesterday. They had one in stock, so I don't have to wait. I sure hope it is worth the money. I have never paid that much for a knife in my life. I am on the search for the be all end all EDC. I hope this one is it. I figure all of you Sebenza lovers can't be wrong. It will be my EDC/Duty knife. Did I make a good choice?

Cost is relative. I think that most here would agree that if we had started with Sebenzas, it would have saved us a lot of time and money. If you think about it in the long term, it is very inexpensive to own a Sebenza. If you take reasonable care of it, it will outlast you. Send it to CRK every couple years for a refurb. and it will give you many years of service. Compare that to buying a new knife of lesser quality every couple years and the bargain becomes apparent. With reasonable use their is nothing that you can do to the knife that CRK can't fix for very little money. Chris really stands by his product. The only down side is that Sebenzas are like Lay's potato chips, you can't have just one! Good choice and welcome to the family. When you use it for a while, you will kick yourself for not gettting one sooner and you won't believe how you put up with lesser knives. And thanks for doing your part to protect our great country. I've been reading a lot about WWII, we owe a lot to the guys that put their lives (and many times lost them) in the line of duty for us civilians. This is a debt that often goes unrecognized. Thanks!!! And enjoy that great new knife of your's!:D

congrats i orderd a large lefty sebbie a few weeks ago there were none in stock so i have to wait till a lefty run is made i have never handled or even seen one outside of pic's i hope it is everything that my fellow formites say it is (i am sure it will be ) i want a nice big EDC have fun with your new Seb

Tim

You made an excellent choice. It's not the cost of the product, it's the VALUE. Enjoy your new EDC

I,like you, had never before spent the kind of $ on
a folder that Chris Reeves asks for his knives. Like most folks here, I own quite a few knives.
My first was a sm reg. It is without a doubt the
BEST FOLDING knife on planet earth. The good news is
if you do not like it there are tons of folks that will be more then happy to purchase it from you.
It's a win win deal for you my friend.
The only real problem you will have is that every knife you compare to your SEB will fall short, hence your only recourse for another knife when
you get the itch for another knife will be to get
a Lg SEB. And on and on it will go.

Congratulations, USAFSP! Welcome to Sebbie Land.

Don't believe there was any mistake made in buying a Sebenza. Only question will be size. My memory is faulty, but it seems to me that you've posted in the past about relatively large knives. The large Sebenza isn't really big, so the small may be a little less than you feel you need.

But, as predicted already, even if the small turns out to be exactly what you want, you're still likely to want to buy a large anyway. If that occurs, you can choose between the standard and the Classic. Such easy choices to make when there is no wrong one!

Enjoy your Sebbie!

Yep, you made a good choice. Now start saving for the large one. You're gonna get one sooner or later, (probably sooner).

THnax for all the replies guys! 1 more day till it gets here. BTW, how good is BG-42? Corrosion and rust resistance? Edge Holding?

BG42's composition is quite similar to ATS34 and 154CM. BUT, it has 1.2% vanadium, which those two don't have. Vanadium carbides are the first formed. So, just looking at the composition, BG42 should have both better edge holding and somewhat better corrosion resistance, because of more free chromium than the other 2.

From what I've heard, experience bears out those advantages.
