I just received a perfect specimen

I just opened the box of a new second run Para II CTS & was delighted. This sample has a perfectly centered blade, no blade play in any direction, lock action & pivot are great, & I can see no flaws in fit & finish. The lockbar operation is smooth & easy with no sticking. The grinds appear perfectly symmetrical and the edge was exceptionaly sharp.

I only hope that everybody who received one of these new Para II's is as satisfied with the product as I am.

I received my Para 2 CTS 20CP a few days ago and my knife is as well put together as my Sage 1. The lock up and and lock bar operation are the same as you described, I just had to touch up the edge a bit on mine . Kurt

I don't have the fancy steel that you guys have, but my Para-Military 2 is just about perfect too. One of the best "flickable" folders as well, for those who partake in the fine art of flicking.

I also just recieved a new Paramilitary 2, CTS-20CP. It is a very well made knife. The compresion lock works great, blade flicks goods.

I am very happy with it.

My regular p2s are awesome but my cts-20cp is a lemon. It basically has every problem you could have with p2.

Just received my order confirmation email about the CTS20CP Para 2. I had given up hope that my pre order would be filled. Hell yeah.

Unfortunately, I have two of the gray sprints and both have blade-play and can't be tightened down. One also has an inconsistent grind towards the tip and the other has a slightly off-centered blade.

Luckily both have nice early lock-up and smooth lock-engagement.

I can deal with the uneven grind because that can be sharpened out and who cares about a little off-centering? I am, however, quite disappointed about the fact that Spyderco has deemed the side-to-side blade-play "within spec." I have three other Para 2's that I can tighten the pivot down on, which I like because I like the ability to re-tighten my pivots after some hard use has caused them to loosen. Why can't the pivots on my gray sprints be tightened any further? Personally, I feel like this is necessary for any pocket knife. Who wants a pivot that can't can't be tightened down to the desired tightness?

I'm curious how much side to side movement there is for those that say they have play? Enough to feel? Enough to see? I know its hard to put a quantitative number on it especially since the blade flexes some from side to side.

Have you heard anything back about your knife?

It would appear that the jimping on my CTS-20CP is somewhat warped, but apart from that the knife is flawless; at least this settled in no time my 'safe-queen vs. user' dispute :)

Both of the ones I received from the first batch and second batch are perfect. Dead centered, no blade play open or closed, buttery smooth, even grinds on the edge..too bad I have to get rid of both of them soon :(

Both of my Gray Para's have the same amount of play. It's enough to feel when I grab the blade with one hand and the handled withe the other and flex the knife. It's not like the blade is swinging back and forth or anything and it's nothing you can see or even feel when using the knife. You can feel it shifting inside the scales as apposed to my other Para's which are solid and don't have that same play feeling. Go try to flex a Sebenza for reference and then flex a SOG trident folder. The Para 2 is somewhere in between, probably on the Sebenza side. ;)

I realize there's no reason to flex a knife and they function just fine. It's a mental thing, I guess, to not want any blade play and the flex test simply that, a test.

I just felt my second Gray one and it's really not as bad as I thought. The one I'm keeping is worse and it's even not quite as bad as was in my mind. The one I'm selling isn't even really noticeable. Oh well, I'm starting to think that the "issue" is really in my head and that this is a superior knife with a superior blade steel.

I'd have to agree with you. Same with that jimping picture, or Talley's other thread. If your blade isn't centered when closed, it is when it's open. Any of my production folders (Spyderco, Benchmade, etc) will "have play" if you wiggle it hard enough, especially by grabbing the very tip of the blade. The fact that the blade profile is slightly (we're talking about ~1mm) lower than the S30V version also seems like a non-issue, and has been covered before. But, best of luck to those who are bent out of shape.

My last email has gone unanswered for a week so I sent the guy another last night after work. It doesn't seem that this issue will be resolved.
