I just saw a 5yr Commander for sale...

Aside from the serrations, Lynn....You'd like this model. The scales and liners (as you already know I'm sure) are a little more stout than those on your 3 Commander models.

How do you like that 2002 you snagged? Been carrying and/or using it much?

Short version:

"How do you like that 2002 you snagged?"

I love it.

"Been carrying and/or using it much?"

During the work week, with me wearing business attire, it's now my EDC, till I get my SnG (next year).

Next, the LONG version:

Commanders are weird! When I just had the Mini and the Super my order of preference was:

1. Mini Commander
2. Super Commander

Right after I rec'd my 2002 Commander, my order of preference was:

1. 2002 Commander
2. Mini Commander
3. Super Commander

Tonight, my order of preference is:

1. 2002 Commander
2. Super Commander
3. Mini Commander

After carrying the 2002 for a bit, the perceived thinness of the handle on the Super seems like much less of an issue. Go figure. Next week, my order of preference might easily be:

1. Super Commander
2. 2002 Commander
3. Mini Commander

I have a real love/hate relationship with the Commander blade. I LOVE the usefulness of the blade shape. It is a BEAUTIFUL blade. I don't care for chisel cut edges. I HATE sharpening my 2002 Commander. IMO, the Commander blade is the absolute hardest to sharpen blade I have EVER seen. Since I killed the chisel cut edge and gave the blade a true V grind edge, it cuts pretty darn good and slices better than when it was new. The blade on my (S30V) Strider AR is the easiest to sharpen I've ever seen. The SnG should be every bit as easy to sharpen.

Like I said, Commanders are weird. Having all three sizes is great. Eventually, after I get my SnG, I'll probably sell the SC and give the Mini to my wife or a friend. I've got too many knives! The 2002 Commander, however, is here to stay.
