for all the prayers, PMs, Emails, Visits to the hospital, Get well cards, and visits by Barbe q in the hospital. Andrew was truly touched by the caring and concern of you all. In a small way this crusty pirate was touched by you guys and your care and concern. People say that the knife community is a different breed of people I can honestly say that is true. Thanks so much for your care.

Andrew spent the last two days mostly sleeping but today he woke up and was his usual old chipper self. The Milf and I had a tough time keeping him down. I kicked him off the basketball court today he snuck out of the house to shoot " just a few baskets". The swelling in his face is completely gone much to the amazement of his doctors and my Milf and I. He still has a very nice bruise and a shiner but yesterday when he smiled the corner of his mouth which was severely lacerated lifted up in his smile which is a good sign that he is healing properly and that the plastic surgeons skills were not for naught.

We leave on another vacation on Saturday over the fourth up to Drummond Island Michigan. Dangerously close to Canada and I fear there may be Oompa Loompas collaborating with Canadian Geeses nearby but It will be a good place just to chill and relax and continue the healing process.

As for myself I am also starting to feel normal again. I also have slept a lot and have been able to replace the horrible mental images of your son laying on the pavement in a pool of blood with the smiling face of my son. Today I was in my office just looking at all my pictures and I realized how much of a dynamic impact that kid has in my life and how close I came to losing that. I said a silent prayer of thanks that my family was protected from the worst of all tragedies. Yesterday we went to the Oral surgeon in Lansing for a follow up on his surgery in Columbus. The office ladies gaped at his bruises and the swollen features on his face. One lady somberly asked

Office lady : ( whispering ) What happened?
RTDTB: Ahhh the little shit screwed up a Kick boxing Tournament...He better do better next year or there will be hell to pay...

You should have seen the looks I got!!! Andrew and I both burst out snickering and laughing and had to tell the truth obviously....things are getting back to normal...

Thanks again..

Ren

Glad to hear things are getting back to "normal" (whatever that may mean for you and yours!). ;)
LOL for the kick-boxing answer.....

Take care!

I'm glad he's on the mend as well. Sounds to me like you two are lucky to have each other.

Had one of those mental images haunting me once too after my oldest daughter had a real bad dirt bike wreck. I won't go into details. Bad shit, but she came out ok too. Glad you are both are on the mend. I know that day changed me forever, but for the better. All the best to you both. He's a tough little dude.

Glad to read you are both on the mend.

It's amazing how resilient kids (and their parents) can be.

I am so happy that things are better for Andrew AND you!! I am glad to hear that all the prayers worked! There is nothing like the power of prayers.

Now go and enjoy all that time w/ your son. Time goes so quickly with our kids need to enjoy every minute..

Thats funny, I'm glad your boy is doing better. What is he into (cars, knives, baseball) ?

Great news Ren glad to see people recover from these incidents. Lord know I see way to many who don't.

He just has a great 'war story' to tell, that's all!

Young boys are like steel springs -- they come back real fast.

Hey Ren...

That's Awesome to hear Bro!!
I'm very glad he is doing better....

Sounds like he's got a pretty decent support system...!!

All the Best from Canada

No kidding! Just think of the stories he'll be telling the young ladies for years to come. "So there I was. It was a dark and stormy night..." ;):D

Glad things turned out so well, Ren.
