Gave my two weeks notice at work and was walked out. Now I have two weeks paid vacation which means that I have all the time to watch the Busse site for the FBM. :D

The moment I hit the door I lit my cigar and headed home for the scotch.

My poor wife will have to unfortunately work the whole time that I am off.......Which means more time to cause trouble!

I think I will take my currant Busses out to the woods for a walk.

Have a good day Gentleman...... And ladies!

Soooooo...what type of job did you have? Just curious since they walked you out. I had the same thing happen to me a few years ago (banking).

Wow, sorry it came to that, but glad you have Busses, smokes, and drinks to help ya thru man....

Funny, I always told employees who threatened "I'll just turn in my resignation and "f" off for 2 weeks" that I would just pay them out and have them escorted off the premises. Changed their tune...

Hope it was for good cause bro.

Thanks guys!

I just finshed the stogie and called Leatherman about a sheath.

I work in a hotel as a sales manager however I am going to the enemy (bigger hotel down the street) as the offered a senior sales position and of course more money.

It was a very good "walk" as it was done correctly without burning bridges. We have all worked with each other in different hotels before as this happens alot in the industry. It is funny because my secretary just went there as she was my secretary at the previous 2 hotels.

As a few of you know I am also an archaeologist. This is my true love!:D

By the way, 500jefferyDK, don't use the email address that you have as they now have access to it. I will give you the new one when I get it.

Thanks,

Dan

So thats why I just got an order for 500 leather napkin rings! Should I pass on the 1000 keychain fobs?

You can charge the fobs and napkin rings to their credit card. :D

Good luck Dmelone. Do you work as an avocational, out of curiousity, and in what state? I'm actually looking for work in the archaeological community myself right now. Shovelbums.com has been pumping out some interesting gigs lately, check out the one in Big Bend.

Lagarto,

I work at the Field here in Chicago. However as you know jobs don't last as long or pay as much so I had to sell my soul to a sales department. My work is in Africa (Kenya) however I am currently searching the forest preserves for Indian settlements.

What is your specialty?

DMelone,

Congrats HOG!!!!!

Enjoy your brief time off. . . and abuse some INFI ! ! ! !

Thanks again everyone!!

I have been doing nothing but hiking while smoking cigars and Infi bashing

I thinkt that I will quit this job and get hired on as the beer gopher at Busse! I am sure that I would not be dissapointed!

Dmelone,
That's really neat, I spent 4 years in school at Beloit, and only ever got to the Field once. I really want to go back, especially after seeing Ghost in the Darkness, now I've got to see the lions. I just finished at ECU with a degree in maritime history and archaeology, but I have limited experience, so I hesitate to really say that I have a real specialty yet. My research interests are in submarines as archaeological artifacts, as well as Native American watercraft. I don't want to hijack this thread any further, but shoot me an email if you'd like. Would very much like to hear about your research. Congratulations again on your new job. Good luck with the INFI hunt.

No problem Lagarto with the hijack. My first dig was at the Gottschall Site and the leader was out of Beloit College. I was there twice. My research was actually in Tsavo and my Curator performed a dig at the "Maneater's" cave that Patterson found. Although the bones had washed away this site was really a Taita burial site.

Just to keep this thread along the Busse lines. Busse BM's have accompanied me through every expedition.

I will give you an email as soon as I start my new job as I do not check my hotmail that often. My PM here does not work.

Talk to you later!

Dan

Dan, that's cool. I had a few classes with Bob Salzer, he was a great prof, IMO. He retired last fall I believe. I was going to say that a BM seemed a little large for a field knife, but I guess not in Tsavo. If I go back to terrestrial work I'll probably be carrying my RD7 that was made from a Busse NO blank that Jerry sold to Justin. Wish I still had my SFNO Fat, that would have been perfect.

Bob is a great guy and knows a great deal. I have been doing work in our forest preserves here and my skeleton key accompanies me everywhere out there as well as my favorite folders from CRKT. I just returned and found more stone tools and pottery. I found quite a bit yesterday as well. I have mapped sites all over the forest preserve district as this is something to do while waiting to go back to Africa.

The BM would scare joggers/bicyclists however I do get the "am I gonna die" look from people as I have to carry other equipment in the field so I guess a knife would only add to the humor. :D

What year did you graduate? I worked with a girl at the Field who went to Beloit.

Dmelone, '01. Her name wasn't Carrie was it. I think the woman who directs the Logan museum at Beloit worked in the Field for a while.
