Please tell me where you guys are using this tool that you cant use it.

When trying to reach a screw thats recessed in a round hole not much larger than the head of the screw I find that the bit driver on the Surge is to boxy and short to reach in and get some of them. I bump into these quite often on children's toys when they need to be taken apart and fixed or have the batteries replaced.

I do maintenance in an apartment building also. I carried the Surge a few days with no trouble until I went to reverse the driver bit, the retaining spring flew out. Luckily I realized the problem and was actually able to find the small spring.
I decided to change to the Core which has very hefty drivers and now carry the Surge on my days off. That was my only beef with it.;)

Try removing screws off ANY automotive distributor cap with the Surge.

I posted something about the bit driver being only useful for driving screws into sheetmetal... I was being sarcastic. But really, I've found that there are more applications where I cannot use the Surge's driver because of either depth or clearance problem (usually with recessed screws).

I guess if I come across these again, and I happen to have a camera, I'll post pics.

I use the bits on my Surge quite extensively too on anything from bicycles to small engines. Now my problem is the spring seems to be getting a bit loose and the bits are starting to fall-off or shake when I try to use them.

I guess I'm gonna have to take the spring out and give it a little bending back.

So far the bit screwdriver has been very useful to me EDC.

But forgive me if I'm one of those people who can't find anything that'll fit the jeweller's/eyeglass screwdriver. :D

Havent had any problems with the spring yet. But I wonder if Leatherman would sell those to us? It would be good to to have a couple of spares around. Anybody know this answer. I think I will email them about it.
