Ok, while practicing with my bali I have this habit where I don't hold the knuckle grip correctly - I use my thumb. If I don't then I drop the thing occaisionally.
Heres what I'm talking about, this is a few moves where my thmb would possibly get smashed as I finish the close:

Now what can I do to improve my grip? I wouldn't be whining but I was toying with a bali while intoxicated and now have a large blood blister on my thumb, making practice with it very uncomfortable until it heals. :/
This feels very unnatural/uncomfortable:
