Had to move some things out to the "shop" today. Don't know why I still call it that, all I use it for is to store stuff. Anyway, I figured it wouldn't hurt to straighten everything out and sweep the floor up. Moved a table top that was leaning against the wall and saw a bird's nest with an egg in it. Man I felt like dirt! I'd always kept one of the windows open so bugs could come and go. I hate seeing things get stuck in there and dieing. One day, after watching a show about Africanized bees I decided it might be wise to close the window. I didn't know I'd be shutting out the birds from sitting on the nest and hatching their egg! :( I opened the window back up and I'm never closing it again!

Is it possible that is an old egg ?

Last summer I had a dove nest uptop on my patio , I left it alone cause I wanted the doves to hatch , well nature took place and that nasty bluejay ate the eggs and knocked down the nest.

Life happens.

It's kinda late for birds to be laying eggs... unless they do things different in Florida.

I'm pretty sure it's a mocking bird's egg/nest and they lay eggs a couple times a year down here. They're a blast to watch, too! They're super brave, lol, will chase cats and dogs and sometimes dive bomb people that get too close to their nests.
