Less than a week after pulling the trigger on a spanto grind with s35vn, the one that I was looking for (slicer with 20CV) comes available... Wouldn't you know. Oh well, I have to say, the spanto compliments the "Sliciness" of my large insingo very well! So far, I have only used the spanto to cut up some soft dog treats for my 17 year old half-toothless Wonder Dachshund. I have to say, it handled it just fine:)

I am absolutely sure Wonder Dachshund could taste the difference when the treat was cut with a Hinderer. Spanto is a great grind.

If you're anything like several here...one, while arguably enough---never really seems to be. Once you decide the XM is for you, it's very difficult to not want for more.

I have both blades and like both, but the spanto IS Rick Hinderer. Just looks much better, IMO. But you are right - settle, and sure enough, your dream comes along in a day or two.

I carry both grinds every darn day; both "in real life" and while kickin' it around the casa. It's redundant, in that--they all can cut, and are all robust us hel!.
So I don't grab one over the other with grind in mind, I grab the correct overall size for the task at hand. Or, if it's a one-knife day / occasion / event, the 3.5 Spanto Flipper is it and done.

I gotta say, I think the spanto is great looking and it really is growing on me. Like I said, I haven't really put it to the test yet but for my normal day to day activities, it has worked great. Sure, I can't get those dog treats sliced quite as thin as I can with the insingo. However, if the moment arises, I wouldn't hesitate to use the the spanto on things that I would hesitate using thinner grind knives on.

LD I'm with you, I like both grinds and all the new grinds that Rick is releasing, however the Spanto grind captures the essence of the Hinderer XM.

You gotta post a pic of your dog!!!!! Wonder Dachshund!!!! Only 9 more years to beat the record!

There was another Dachshund that lived to 26 years old??? Don't tell my wife that, it is a lot of work dealing with an elderly dog. Per your request Maprik. Here is one with both of my Dachshunds. I had to put the red one down last April at the age of 16. His name was Poncho and he was a good boy:)

Thanks for the great pics! Sweet dogs!!! Your XM looks amazingly fresh and new!!!!

It does look fresh! I plan on fixing that in due time;)

Good luck! I used one of mine for months in the sandbox, and the person I sold it to thought I'd sent him the wrong knife. He said it looked too new! :D
