But will they cover the sheath if it wears out beyond proper use?

I have been using the ESEE 4 as a daily user since late may, and it's by far the best knife I could keep on me at all times. The ambidextrous sheath has been a very large part of that. I'll also mention that I only use the kydex sheath, and not any nylon parts or extra straps. However lately, the sheath has been inexplicably loose. I've tightened the screws, but I've experienced no difference in sheath tightness. It has always had an up and down movement in the sheath, but that was easily forgivable since that has no effect on the locking system, but now it has a generous amount of side to side movement in the sheath, which is a very clear indication to how loose the retention lock is on the knife. Today I experienced an actual problem with it, as I hopped over a railing, and the knife had fallen out of the sheath. This has never happened before, and it was startling since I was on concrete and in a public area where knives aren't seen as a normal carried item by the general public. (I'm sure you can infer what that means.) I did escape any scrutiny from bystanders, but the concrete did ding the edge, which took some work on my diamond stones to sharpen out. Overall, the edge is still the same and there was relatively no damage to the knife, but that was still a bother having to do that extra work. The sheath continues to get progressively looser.

Would I be able to get a replacement sheath through ESEE? Or am I stuck with my failing sheath? if that is the case, does anyone know any online dealers that can sell me a small retention strap for the factory sheath? I've sent ESEE an e-mail and tried getting access to their forums but I haven't heard back from them yet.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you tried putting the screw in the upper position instead of the lower? You can adjust the tension that way. If you've already tried that you might as well contact ESEE directly and see what they say about it.

Late May? Unless you're talking about the late May of half a decade ago, that isn't normal. The sheath shouldn't wear out so quickly. Send it in, they'll replace it.

You can adjust the tension of a pistol Kydex holster by heating it with a heat gun (be careful!) or a hair dryer and pushing it tighter. Can you do the same with your sheath?

I'll try that out if I don't the get reply I'd like from Esee. Good idea and thanks!
