Hey guys, I now ordered my new knife! (gave all my other ones to my little brother to replace his knife... that I had broken...don't ask :D )
I decided on a benchmade 690 Elishewitz plain edge......a truly beautifull knife I think...... :) :)
Now, I obviously can't wait until it arrives.... :D where is that postman with my knife????

I did a forum search about it and I found a few threads...but not much...
So any of you guys have one? What do you think of it?
Since this will be my only knife (for now ;) ) I plan to use it....even hard somethimes...will it handle that??
I decided to buy the 690 instead of a mini buck strider because I wanted a good cutter....and I figured since it's Benchmade, it can't be bad....can it?

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!
Take care!, Davy

You can't go too wrong with Benchmade. Except maybe the Red Class. Well, those are alright, too, for the price. When I think of Benchmade, I still think of knives that are fairly expensive, use some of the finest materials and with proper care, last a lifetime. Hey, if Mercedes makes Dodge Neons now, I guess I can face the reality that Benchmade makes decent (though semi-disposable) knives in Taiwan. ....Cringe...

Hello Davy,

You chose a really good knife. I had one, it was unfortunately stolen out of my desk at work. Very well made solid knife, yet with the scales very classy. It will be a solid knife, the blade is over 1/8" thick, .133" if I remember correctly. It has a nice thick almost full size handle, yet relatively sheeple friendly. BM 154CM holds an edge quite well. I also liked the clip, much more comfortable in the hand than the standard BM models. For a liner lock, it also was very solid. I have looked at several limited editions versions to replace mine, just haven't done it yet. My only complaint is also a positive. I prefer to hold thicker full size handles, which this has, but it also makes it a little uncomfortable in the pocket. I am sure you will really enjoy the 690. It is a nice stout, yet gentlemenly knife.

The 690 is a real nice knife. I really liked the one I used to have, well-made and good looking. Enjoy yours!

The 690 is a great knife, I had one of the limited edition 690's with carbon fiber handles and BC1 coated blade and the fit and finish were top notch and the action was smooth as silk.

I am also a firm believer that you can't go wrong with any Benchmade product, even the Red Line for people who don't want to spend a bunch.
