I know it isn't a true "Samurai" sword

But I would like to list one of the WW2 non-com swords on ebay.

Tried looking up what is on there but it seems it is being dominated by some Shanghai sharpie (may be legit) selling BUNCHES of stuff called "Samurai" swords.

Any idea of a reasonable price for these things? Excellent condition for a serial numbered blade. Complete and undamaged.

Any idea of where to start would be appreciated.

TIA

The serial numbered katanas are factory made. They usually range from $100 - $300 (if the sword is in excellent condition). But it's hard to say without any pics.

Yes, WW II serial marked blades had shin gunto fittings. This style of fitting was used on some older non-factory blades that went to war as well.

That will give me an excellent starting point to get it on eBay and have a reasonable expectation of getting some action.

I can put pix on ebay so it should speak for itself.

Thanks again.

I have a pre serial number gunto blade. I've been working on building fittings so it can be used as an iaito in my dojo.

interesting...ive heard some stories of using Gunto and Shingunto swords for martial arts but ive always wondered how good they are. Very few swords from the Showa Era were hand forged so, they did not pertain the true strength of a katana. so, i was wondering how well they stood up to practice and tameshigiri.
