Who's tougher?, who's sharper out of box?, who's easier to mod?, who batons better? can either make good feathersticks?, which is better: the very curvy but too smooth grivory, or the nice and grippy but too "blocky" micarta?, Is Ka-bar or Rowen the better HT'er, and which one works better as a thrower:rolleyes:;), which makes a better "tactical" knife(for the actual solider, nopt tactical knife collector) and anything else you guys can think of to root out once and for all which on these 1/4" beasts is top dog. And we'll let a Mora clipper be the special guest referee:D
And of course some porn to get your blood pumping and make you pick a side..

I think for this to be fair your gonna have to mod the BK-2 with some micarta and a kydex sheath... A $60 knife vs. a $150 isnt really fair. Anyway, BK-2 all the way for me, never thought twice about modding one, battoning something with one or cutting something with one. That said, I dont know what ESEE's are like since I've never held, seen, used or will ever own one. Meh, whatever...Final answer is still BK-2.

PS: You should look into fixing up your sig :).

Both kickass knives. Pretty much equal in preformance to me. So then you have to look at value and a $60 knife being equal to a $150 knife is a no brainer.

If the Esee-5 had some handle ergo's I would like it more. I think you have to be an 800lb gorilla to get a good grip on it though. Other than that i is a great knife.

I have both. And couldn't say if one is better than the other. But dude, you scratched the finish on em. That lowers the colectivity value. Oh wait.........wrong forum. Nevermind. Thought I was in the other "B" forum.
Cheers
Balding

The Esee-5, in factory trim, feels like a brick to me. Bleh.
The BK-2, in factory trim, just needs a 4" piece of bicycle inner tube rolled onto the handle.

I'm with you on that one Sky. The 5 fits my hands fine but the Becker ergonomics are superior.

I don't own an ESEE 5, but I have held one, it's a really nice survival knife IMO. I want one. The BK2 is King in my eyes. I just love that knife...great simple functional tough knife...all that and a bag of chips.

Pretty much every question you asked is going to have an answer based on personal preference. I don't think any of those things can be answered difinitively so you'd have to take an average of the opinions from a given population. If you're going to use this population then you may as well say the BK2 wins now and be done with it. :D

See now that's the 2nd time someone mentioned it to me and as far as I can see its working fine at the moment. It has messed up several times lately and I have no idea why or how that can even happen, but right now as I look my post, the sig is showing fine. What are you seeing??

PS: You should look into fixing up your sig :).[/QUOTE]

If anyone out there currently owns both maybe they would consider making a comparison video for us and demonstrate the basic stuff like batoning, feather sticks, easy of field sharpening and whatever else can be though of. I got rid of my Esee a few months ago so I can't do it but maybe someone will step up to the plate on this one

This is all it shows

Where’s the YouTube video of a forum member batoning a BK2 with an Esee 5? I believe the member abused both knives and the Esee took the abuse quite well.

I've never held the ESEE 5, to be fair, but I don't think it would have the same ergos as the 2.

Need to watch Part 2 and 3 of that video as well. He even says that are about equal.
