I'm sure we all get knives from family members who "know you like knives". Usually they're cheaper knives....some are total garbage and some are decent.

Here are 2 of mine. They are pretty close to the "garbage" end of that scale, but for some reason I have actually used both of them a fair amount.

Let's see yours.

Them: You like knives right?
Me: I love knives!
Them: can you sharpen this for me *hands me something from Walmart*

I have half a dozen or so random knives I've received. Stuff like this.

Oh ok thanks? Does this mean you want me to get arrested over a $8.99 knife?

Finally I gave them a list of inexpensive knives I actually wanted like a Mora Eldris, Ka-bar Dozier...
I wish they loved me enough to give me a Guardian 3 in magnacut.

Fixing to turn 44 soon, and I've only ever been given a knife 3 times.

My first knife, a Wenger Nomad, was a gift from my great uncle for my 7th birthday.

Second knife, a large Case lockback, a gift from my father when I was 12.

Then, at age 37, a Matt Bailey model 2 flipper geek edition from my mother.

Then, two weeks ago, my mother was going to buy me one at a little shop in Tennessee, but the knife salesman had left early.

For Christmas a couple years ago, a very good friend bought me this Esee 3.

His reasoning was that he knows I like pocket knives and that I own a lot of them. Since he didn't know which folding knives I already owned, he wanted to get me a decent fixed blade.

This is truly one of the most thoughtful gifts I've ever received.

I forgot one, my buddy gave me a Case mini copperlock in green bone for my 40th birthday. Damn hard to believe that was almost 4 years ago.

I gave away bunch of knives to friends and family members, particularly my son - an CQC7 and ESEE 4 for his work at the time (AC installations), Manix 2XL and so on.
My wife is the one that gives me knives, about every couple of years. Left to right those are the one I got so far from her,
they are the most valuable pieces in my collection, besides being good knives. She'd ask me if I want a knife for this or that occasion
and I'd pick the model, she'll pay for it. If not a knife, she'll get me a rare bottle of Bourbon... I'll have to teach her now to step up and start buying guns for me... 🤣

My partner, parents and best mate (the last a knife nut) know I like knives so ask me what I want and that's what I get😜
I’m kinda in the same boat, it’s really nice!

Here’s some knives I’ve been gifted (I have some more, but their not really worth mentioning, lol)

Edit: Just realized this was my 1000th post! 🥳

Thats my favorite Esee, and I’ve had all the «regulars» from Candiru to the 6. the overall size, thin grind, low angle edge on 3 3 makes it a suberb knife.

Best gift ever

I love this thread! No photos here (thankfully none of these are still in my possession) but my wife has gotten me some real doozies. One was some weird sort of sharpened plastic shiv or something, I think maybe it was designed as a burner knife or something for terrorists to sneak onto airplanes? Wasn't exactly sure what was going on with it but she was able to return it thankfully. She ordered me a "custom Japanese" knife once that she showed me the order for, something like $250 from a weird scammy website and no indication of where it was made, I proceeded to show her the exact same knife on Ali express for $3.99 and she was thankfully able to cancel that order. It's the thought that counts so I really appreciate both of those :)

It sounds like your wife has great intentions but could use a little help with the selection. I recommend signing her up for an account here, then we can help point her in better directions for her next knife gifting ;)
