I spoke with a VERY long time maker of knives, who I'm sure many of you know. He uses a gun coating product.... Gun Black, I think it is... on his canvas micarta handles, and they turn out looking great, a lot darker and even have a smoother look to them, from the pictures. If you decide to try this, use extreme caution since I don't the exact product he uses. I know I have some gun black around here somewhere, but it's been at least 6 months since I saw it last. If I can find it, I'll give it a shot and report back. Thanks.
Please don't ask me what his name is, I don't anyone bugging him to ask him about what his secret formula might be. I didn't ask him what he used, but he didn't tell me either, and that's good enough for me.
