hello all! i finally bit the bullet and came aboard. ive used bladeforums for years as a valuble resource for any and all info on purchasing knives. ive been a collecter since i was a kid, but you all have forced me to up the anti (and drained my wallet!) buying knives online without having handled them has been daunting to say the least, exp when going over the 100$ price tag but oh man is it nice to hit bf and check out the reviews. i thought id share the system i now follow for online knife shopping...

1. ask myself what am i using this knife for? survival/backpacking? edc? what do i need this knife to do?
2. specs from the manufacturer, length/weight/steel ect
3. hit bladeforums, do a search. i may have never heard of the knife, but someone has and chances are they have beaten the junk out of it, and have written all about it. i allways search before i ask!
4. youtube it, have to see it in someones hand. nutnfancy probably owns it!
5. shop around, its crazy the ranges of prices the same knife will go for on different sites, even the same site at different times.
6. sleep on it (learned that the hard way)
7. enjoy...safelyish :)

did i forget anything? so id thought id share that and say thank you. if it werent for bf id be running around the country side with a kitchen knife i stole from my sisters house, with duct tape holding it together! lol. or i wouldnt be nearly as well informed before a purchase, one or the other. now youll see me on the trail with my zero tolerance 0160 (ill post a review once its been tested to my liking, so far i love it to death.) so hi, and thanks for making knife collecting a group sport :)

They closed all the dedicated knife shops where I live, now you can only find a decent selection at a gun range or gun store.

There is no way many times to see the knife you're drooling over in person, so I do as you do.

Had it not been for knife forums, I also would have had cheap gimmicky junk.
