I really enjoy the look of the end of my chef knife handle but I am finding conflicting info with my searches on the name of what it is called...
Is the metal part of the back of the knife called the rear bolster or still just the butt?

I like butt caps and I cannot lie
Cutlery lovers can't deny
that when you see a knife with a big fat base
and a pommel in your face, it gets hung
on a magnet strip 'cause that metal butt cap is legit
The kitchen lights are glarin'
I'm hooked and I can't stop starin'

The vast majority of Cooking knives around the world don't have pommels. Probably because there isn't much need for it in the kitchen.
The few that you do see are decorative/aesthetic rather than functional.
However, there are some knives with pommels in South Korea for the express purpose of crushing garlic, which is very often used in
Korean cuisine.
