Just some musings on a rainy Saturday afternoon....
As I am looking at my collection of fixed blades, I realize that every knife I buy lately tends to be larger than the one before it.
I remember thinking what a big knife the Becker BK7 was when I got it decades ago. Until I got the BK9. Now, even the BK9 looks tiny in comparison to many of my recent additions.
Anything with a blade length smaller than 12" just looks sooooo small now.
I just ordered a Scorpion Swords and Knives (Chris Palmer) Jungle Commando with a 13 3/4" blade. Is it practical? Probably not, as I am not planning on hacking my way through an Amazon rainforest any time soon. Yet the desire to have this big girl still remains.
I also have a Zombie Tools Felon on order with a 12 3/4" blade. Just because.
There is something appealing about knives with big blades. I still love the practicality of a 4" - 7" fixed blade, but I love the impracticality of a huge blade even more. I am one step away from going on a full-on sword buying spree, I fear.
