I like CRACK

We all have different criteria when it comes to deciding what makes a knife right for our own particular tastes. I have a couple dedicated users, but overall I'm more of a collector and fondler than I am a knife user. So I tend to look for odd things when evaluating knives for myself. High on my check list of knife qualities these days is the CRACK or SNAP sound some make when closing. I know a good number of knives make a great, loud SNAP when opening, but I'm having trouble finding knives that also SNAP when closing. Strider PT/SnG/SmF makes a pretty good sound when closing.

Can someone recommend any other knives that make a noticeable sound when closing? It doesn't even have to be a loud sound, just distinct. Although loud is good too.

Thanks.

My old liner-lock SOCOM clicks when you close it.

Edit: Should have added that most of my auto knives seem to be talkative when closing.

My Pocket Rocket makes a nice CLACK sound when the blade is all the way out!!

I to like a click into position be it locked or unlocked, it's the sound and feel of being set right and tight.

I love how my millie sounds but its nothing compared to the clack of my ZT0500, its a clack from heaven.

I must just say that nothing compares to how a bali sounds and feels when it's opened and closed. Latch locked, click, done! I love the sound of my 42  Kudos to op, great thread!

Peace..

The spyderco para makes a nice sound when you open it or close it:)

That is strange. I've had two Paras (both FG D2), and both made some of the most inconspicuous sounds of any folder I've ever tried when clicking open. And if memory serves, I don't remember them making any sound at all when closing. Guess I'll have to pick up another to check it out.:D

I've always found that the Kershaw Ti/SG2 JYDII makes a very distinct sound upon closing. It's not the loudest sound, but it's very distinct and one of a kind.

I prefer knives that can open and close quietly - I like to give advance warning only when I choose to do so. :D

Oddly enough, and ironically, some of the coolest sounding SNAPS I've heard in closing a folder have come about as a result of the blade's EDGE colliding with the inside of the backspring/spine of the folder (look for the 'flat spot' on the edge, and the tell-tale divot in the backspring). If you find a folder that gives you goose bumps when snapping closed, just be sure it's the sound of the blade's kick, and NOT the edge, that's producing that cool sound... ;)

Pretty much any GEC.

My scout is SNAPPY! I've heard the pioneer is even better!

The larger Spyderco mid-lock knives all have a very loud and fast snap when closing.

Look at the Manix, Chinook and the Endura 4.

Kershaw Cyclone a/o will make a nice sound both coming and going. I like it.
