I like em' like this.... Schrade Walden 836...

Very nice. And fantastic price, OP.

Not one of my better shield replacements.

SP .... your shield is better than any I could do ! I was thinking of finding a donor
blade and borrowing the shield (if that isn't sacrilegious !). I was reading thru some
old posts here and see where some refer to these 836's as "whittlers" .... I did not know
that.

Norcal...that is a perfect knife. What a classic... Shrade CUTCO . Awesome.

p.s. love the way my brass insert comes to a point....very cool.

Thanks guys... just pure-D luck... hidden in a pile of offshore steel. Sometimes
it pays to root around in those piles. Seem to be many mistreated knives out
there... can be difficult to locate the good stuff. I think this knife is the "good stuff".

At the swap this past weekend... Schrade Walden 836... missing shield,
but, all 3 carbon steel blades intact. Very cool . Just required a light clean
and lube. Need to review my logos to define era. My first of this model.

I gave $3.

I bought my Schrade Walden 836 about 1958, at a old time hardware store in my small Illinois hometown, there was still Harness for sale hanging on the walls and cast iron stoves for sale. This knife was in a glass case near the front of the store. I probabily paid less than $5.00, maybe $2.00. Carried it for many years, to Vietnam and back and in the mid 1980's fearing I might lose it. I put it in a drawer

Sir, welcome to Bladeforums. I am a huge Schrade Walden fan myself. :)

Just an FYI when you post on old threads you might like to check out their last post date.
In this case this thread was last posted on in October 2019 so it's possible that no-one will reply or the members who created the thread are no longer active.

Please post a few pics of your knife, here are some of mine.............;)
