I like my Cat, will I love my Techno?

I have been researching the Spyderco Techno (both original and Techno 2), for my next EDC. The only knife I presently have of the approximate size is the Cat with 440C blade. The Cat is a surprisingly good little folder, sturdy, easy to carry discreetly, nice EDC and workshop knife. I bought it on a whim at the Golden, CO Spyderco store years ago, and it's been a surprisingly good knife.
In looking on line at the Techno, and all the positive (mostly) comments, I am still curious about its "choke up" ability: the ability to slide the index finger from the handle to the area just below the pivot in order to gain more control when doing detail cutting. One reason my Cat is such a great user is this curved finger choil which allows a good 4 finger grip on a 3 1/2" handle.
I don't see much choke up area on the Techno, although the old original Techno seems to have a slight cut -away of the blade edge here; I see none on the Techno 2.
So my question is, Is there a comfortable way to choke up on the Techno/Techno 2 in a similar way as on the Cat?
As always, thanks in advance for any information.

YMMV, but I liked the way the Cat felt in hand better than the Techno. The finger choil on the Cat makes for a more comfortable grip, and the thinner blade stock cuts much better in my experience. I kept the Cat and it's one of my favorite small Spyderco knives, but I ended up moving the Techno along to a new home. I like the Cat so much I had custom ivory paper micarta scales made for it to dress it up a bit.

Greg, thanks for the reply. I found your Cat with the ivory scales on another thread: Awesome. Looking at Techno 2 reviews/photos again on BF and Youtube, it looks like there is a little point beneath the pivot on the scale that could be filed or ground down slightly to provide somewhat of a choil or finger placement.(?) I may try that when I get one.
Thanks again, any more suggestions welcome. DD

I had the same conundrum years ago. Get a Spyderco ambitious it's approximately the same hand feel as a Techno.

I picked up both but at the end of the day I neither liked stubby knives or tank folders

I love my Cat. Recently I wanted a tank of a small knife. I looked long and hard at T1 and T2. After talking it over with folks who had experience, I chose the Lil Native back lock. It has a more useful blade and the general overall design is much better than the techno. I am made a happy choice.

OK, I ordered a Techno 2 yesterday (found a good buy on a "lightly used" one on the Bay. I will use it for a few days and post an opinion on my "choke up" question.
Thanks for all the replies. DD

Yeah chime back in and let us know how it goes. I was a little bit leery of the night although I like the overall look of it. I did get the little native as I said and I love it.

OK, I have had the Techno a few days now. It arrived in new, perfect condition. As everyone has described it, it is a little tank. It took a couple of days to get used to the opening angle: you have to push out with the thumb, directly toward the 9 o'clock position.
And I CAN choke up on it, as I hoped. The forefinger nests (I won't say comfortably) in the little notch where the finger choil would normally be. The finger touches the sharp heel of the edge, so I ground off a slight bit of the sharp end of the heel. I will probably grind off another fraction of metal in that area to make it even better.
If BMW built a compact tank, it would have the ergos and usability of this knife.
Thanks to all,

Congrats to the acquisition! I njoyed my T1clone so much that i got interested in buying the T2 for the superior blade steel. And ever since i got the T2 (clones of the T2 don't exist ask Ali) it's been my one and only EDC knife. I substituted the clone wire clip which is more convenient for EDC imho and installed G10 scale and backspacer for a warmer lighter feel in my sensitive hand ;) .

The technos are not the most ergonomic EDC knives tbh, but they are a true joy to use and carry after all, every frikkin day. I retired my Enduras, PM2's, Delicas, Ganzos, Firebirds, etc, and exclusively EDC and use the T2 in lieu. After the customization i also stopped looking for or looking at other knives!

very nice g10 scale you put on the t2, but wow, wearing those gloves was so agonizing to watch I can't imagine how you managed not to rip them off immediately ; D

fwiw, my usual small edc is my kershaw leek, it slices so well it's hard to replace
...when I do want a larger & sturdy edc, my gayle bradley 2 in cpm-m4 gets the job
