Hi all this is my first post on these forums.

I recently bought my first real decent knife the MOD tempest based on the review by Brownie from folders-r-us and the knife is of really high quality, and a great razor edged blade but the handle just feels too small in my hand and i do not have big hands  .

I have a cheaper carbon fiber swat 3000 which feels perfect in my hand for normal or stabbing mode but i wish it was of the quality of the MOD :(

So could you guys recommend any knives with a handle like the swat only with a better steel such as 154CM, ATS34 etc, thankyou

:)

Welcome to the forums Steelfury.:) I don't know how familiar you are with Benchmades, but they are very popular here on the forums. You can check them out here at www.Benchmade.com . Happy hunting.

Thanks Wunderbar, thats just the sort of thing i am looking for. I like no-nonsense knives with a black handle and strong blade...:D

There are many reviews of the various Benchmade models here at the forums, just use the search function located on the upper right of the page & you can read up on the ones ya like. I recently got the BM 710HS & it is Excellent!

The MOD Tempest is a favorite of mine and it fits my hand well, but if you're looking for something with a bigger handle a Benchmade Axis AFCK is the best one I can think of off the top of my head. Try it.

Also, other favorites of mine you could try MAYBE:
Benchmade ARES
Benchmade Pinnacle
Timberline Large WORTAC (A GREAT buy for the $$!)
Spyderco Police
Spyderco Millitary

Do us a favor and reply to this forum and tell us what you get and how you like it.

microtech SOCCOM has the MOD quality and style (made by the same factory & similar design team I think) but I believe a bigger handle. Also the LCC is a very very popular model of theirs. You can see both models at

http://www.the-distinctive-edge.com/microtech.html

They seem to be getting scarce, especially the SOCCOM. But you can put feelers out at the "wanted to buy" forum.

I really like the MOD Tempest. If you want something bigger, look at some Microtech knives. Microtech’s quality control is better than MOD, in my opinion. I think you’d like the Microtech SOCOM and the SOCOM Elite. They are of the same materials and general design as the MOD Tempest, but bigger.

I have an MOD Trident and had the same problem. It's a great knife but it feels small in my hands and I don't have large hands either. Not to take anything away from MOD because I have friends with larger hands than mine and they think it is great....personal preferance I guess?

I'll second the vote on Benchmade. I love the AFCK, the handle is VERY comfortable it's made out of D2 steel and it has the axis lock. Another plus for me atleast is that it has a opening hole instead of a stud which I perfer.

Also, you should check out Spyderco two that come to mind are the Military and the Police (go for the G-10 version) both are excellent designs.

Thanks for all the replies, you have given me a lot to look at :)
I have tried to reverse the clip from tip up to tip down on my tempest to improve the 'feel' of it in my hands but the allen screws 3/64" I believe are so tight, i am almost stripping the screw head :(

A tight screw requires a quality precision fit driver tip, do don't mess it up any more than you might already have. Maybe the best thing is to offer it for trade as is, for another that might fit the bill. It would be worth the effort, as you already know the one you have is not right for you.
