As I was eating breakfast this morning and reading the forums I was thinking about camping which got me to thinking a little about the knives I like to carry when I do that. Got a SOG X-42 Autoclip Limited edition in my pocket, My Powerlock is on my belt and I have my Seal Revolver on my pack just waiting for the next hiking or camping trip. My Flash II PE goes in my pocket carry rotation and my Mini Pentagon and Pentagons both play backups.

I have 16 SOG knives/tools in my collection, and I have more SOGs then any other brand. Sure I have not bought a new SOG in 2 years but they are one company I keep an eye on. Was at the local knife shop yesterday afternoon drooling over some of the newer models and wishing I wasn't broke. Some of the new stuff is awesome and I can't hardly wait till I can afford to buy them.

Two weeks from today (May 1st and 2nd) some friends and I will be heading to Central Utah for a weekend of camping, hiking, practicing Wilderness skills, Dutch oven cooking and shooting. Got a bunch of knives ready to go and SOG is a major part of it. Can't wait to use the Revolver out in the mountains again. Am planning to make some camp crafts (table, stand, chair ext) and the Revolver will be used a ton.

I like my SOGs too. I have carried my SG-1 for nearly a decade. I bought a SEAL 2000 when they first came out and carried it for a while but then when a close friend was getting set to deploy to Korea I gave it to him. I do like the new Pup I have, and the Tigershark is an impressive knife but I only carry it when I'm in my own woods, other than that it wil stay in my "if-the-sh!t-hits-the-fan-pack"...I think it will be a good one for that. I think I'd like working with the Team Leader, it's about the same size as the pup but a different configuration.

wildmanh,

sent that Field Knife back my way and you'll only have 15.

Cheers,

Carl

It will eventually make it's way home. I just keep forgetting to set it out for a trip to the post office... Might have to take it hiking or camping with me one last time though before it goes. ;)

Love mine too! I think the current Seal series of knives fit the hand very well!

I agree, they have very comfortable handles. Not that the old SOG's were bad, the new ones are just nicer.

Took my Old SK-5 Tigershark out yesterday to slice and chop up some soda cans and water bottles. It did an okay job, but not as good as my Kabar Heavy Bowie. If I touch up the edge I'm sure it will do better next time.

Years ago I used to carry my Desert Dagger on hikes in Central Utah along with my Government. I should pull them out and use em again. That Government went on many a campout with me.
