Ok, So i finally got through a trade a SMF Strider a few months ago. At first I didnt do much with it because I couldnt get over the double choil and loss of blade edge. Since using my SuperLeaf well I have learned to appreciate it more. So i figure let give the Strider a chance.... Well first of all, with the flat grind and the edge I put on it, its a demon and holds up well. Construction is rock solid and I like the knife very much. THe issue I have is that the Clip keeps catching on my pocket edge when pulling out. As far as I can figure it out is because the clip contacts the titanium slab right below the cutout in the Titanium side. So I think it makes the pants edge catch inside. Is anyone else noticing this issue and is there a fix, other then not wearing pants:eek::D

Twist the knife counter-clockwise as you pull it out of your pocket. ;)There are similar issues with some framelocks that use the cutout on the outside.

Most of my pants that I wear when using the pocket clip are so worn on my strong side from carrying different types of knives that I honestly didn't notice.

I have two SmF's - but honestly both have the concealed carry scales. Is yours the lego version?

You can bend the clip out a little bit - maybe it's exerting a little too much pressure on the scale?

Toyz,

Thanks for the input. Honestly I do not know. Striders are new to me. This is my first. I did not know the CC were different until you stated this and I looked it up. I have a CPM 3V inbound coming in tomorrow. I hope you are right. I think it was CC model.

I will try to do bend the clip out a bit without damaging it, lol

Thanks for the help,

When I got my sng in a few days ago, the clip was stupid tight. I had to nearly pull my pants down to get it in my pocket and vice versa for getting it out. I bent my clip out to an acceptable tightness and it's perfect now.

I've been leary of bending clips ever since I broke one on my Rijback a while back ( probably the only piece you CAN break on that knife). I've found that putting a small and pretty thin rubber washer between the scales and the clip allows the clip to pivot just a little bit at he bolt end - this seems to help a lot with the pants touching your ear draw problem and still makes retention pretty positive. If the clip retention bolt(s) look like or feel like they've been lock-tited - you'll need to reapply a very small amount when you reattach the clip.

Strider clips are pretty thick - it takes a lot of effort to bend them a little bit (if removed).

I recommend removing the clip from the knife - there should be no loctite - bend by hand - no need to put in vise or use any tools.
