Most Smith & Wesson and Microtech, auto or assist preferred.

This is my crawl down the rabbit hole with Ali Express, on the former.)

I will buy two. One to review and one to sell or give away.

(When/how do i post pics?)

You use a image hosting site like imgbb or upgrade your account.

A lot of knives on Ali Express are knock-offs just to let you know.

One of the young guys I work with had the same thought. He bought a few ali-rip'off models. Chaves and Benchmade. They all broke, chipped or fell apart a few months in. So instead of one or two good knives, He had several embarrassing disposables for the price.

He buys real knives now.

They're mostly curious....but i carried an old S&W clip point in my bunker gear for over a decade, so...

One knife I owned that was pretty cheap but turned out to be really good was the Benchmade Mini-Griptilian. Nice size for my small hands, decent blade and locking mechanism.
ABSOLUTELY AGREE !
(And I don't use that phrase lightly) (I tend to be disagreeable, highly opinionated and cantankerous)
I never would have bought one (but love the original) If I hadn't , out of idle curiosity, just for conversation, asked to check out a customer's Mini Grip.
Without gushing on about the plethora of things I like about it lets just say it is in my back pocket every time I leave the house and very often my "EDC(s)" are in a knife wallet that gets opened after I get to work 🙄I

I find many / most of the great designs (Buck 110, 112, Case Trapper, Mini Grip., . . . some of the Kershaws (check out the Chill (((take note the price hasn't changed in at least four years))) it all starts to enlighten me when I look over my cheep knives.

Then we look at the "exspensive" end of the spectrum and other than the blade alloys and vastly superior heat treat (give or take a few) I find them wanting.
Sure, as pocket jewelry they are fun but as cutting tools . . . don't get me started.

FORTUNATELY these trends are starting to wiggle :
Buck and Case dipped their toes in somewhat contemporary alloys.
There was some talk of, interest in, thinking about, someday, . . . maybe . . . producing usefully thin blades, particularly by Spyderco (sure, I have Chaparrals and a couple of Centofantes (one I full flat ground) . . . BUT WHERE ARE THE M4 or K390 ones ??? Even some sucky old super thin 3V would do.
Then . . . oh the shame of it all, Benchmade hauls out the Bailouts with nice and thin ,sub 3mm, M4 (I bought 3 (((one I'm going to use the blade to make a decent blade for one of my more than twenty Case Trappers)))

I'm not even considering the Narrows at twice the price of the Bailout (handle too thin). Put that blade in a full on, old school, Griptillian and I'm your huckleberry!

So maybe things are looking up.
Ish
Spyderco: I know it will be worth me being patient but. . .
. . . I'm pulling for you. We are all in this together.
Aussies stop laughing; that's not what I ment.

"REALLY expensive" is obviously a very subjective term, but in these environs I think Microtech need not apply. 😎

You will grow wiser as your wallet thins.

It's all relative, yes. Today a 20 dollar knife is pricey.

At prices ranging from some where above $100 to over $600, a Mini Griptilian is not what most people consider to be cheap. I would not consider them to be very expensive either.

To the OP's post, First I would not buy rubber bands from AliExpress because they are probably not made of rubber. And I would also say that everyone has a different idea of what is cheap and what is expensive and also what is worth it and what is not. IMO, a BM Mini Grip is neither cheap or worth it; but a Walter Brend Knife is expensive and worth it.

Yes, inexpensive is relative.
