I like the Axis lock.

I am spoiled by this feature and the quality of the steel and build of Benchmade. This said I would like to look into possibly buying another brand of equal
quality and similar price. Can anyone educate me as to what might be a brand or brands I should look into. I am not a fan of liner lock or frame lock but
the old style spine, that is what I call it, lock and of course the axis are more than welcome additions. I have Bali's so that is not of interest but another
fixed blade or folder of tactical type would be great.
Thanks again and please do not read this as a "this is better than that" question. I am not trying to start a argument but simply learn what is another
good brand or two or more.
Thanks in advance, Frank.

There are several knives around that I think are similar to the axis, not nearly the same.

You could look at CBBL, Arc, bolt etc.

Quality brands, ZT, Benchmade, Spyderco.

Your "spine lock" is called a lockback and some brands you could look at are spyderco with their ball bearing lock, and cold steel's triad lock.

Thanks people. I was thinking of the ZT but have not been able to get to the dealer that is not real close to me. I will give Spyderco another look also. I bought the Police model for myself and the Mariner, I think it was called, as a gift for a friend years ago but have not given them a serious look in a long time.
Thanks again, Frank.

Spyderco and Benchmade are close to each other in terms of quality (IMO). I own and use many of each.

You may want to look into the Manix2 (Ball Bearing Lock) , Sage3 (Bolt Action Lock) , Sage4 and Native5 (both with back/mid lock). I feel that these knives will appeal to you.

You also owe it to urself to check out the Compression Lock which can be found on some great knives such as the Yojimbo2 and Para Military2.

Just my thoughts here. So take a look at everything .
