Stopped by the factory today and handled one. On the small size but a stout bugger. Looks like a good mate to the patrol bag for window break and light crash axe duties. Priced well too, although I wonder where the blade is being cut.

Glad they made the change to the fiberglass (Kraton?) handle versus the older wood version.

Will probably go back this week and pick up a couple.

Well, no joy on the Tommy until the 18th so I will wait until then. Will be an interesting addition to the patrol bag. Will post a more detailed review when I get one in hand.

Last week I purchased a Fusion Tactical Tomahawk from the SOG front office. I paid the LE price. The tommy was in a cardboard box and the tommy was attached to another cardboard back with zip ties and wrapped in plastic. The tommy does come with a black ballistic nylon looking head cover that appeared well made. The snaps were stout and seemed to me solidly mated to the fabric.

The finish of the tommy was uniform and all edges were appropriately cut and rounded (no dimples, rough areas, etc.). The handle does appear to be Kraton and there is a small hole at the base for attaching something like 550 cord for a lanyard.

The blade edge was uniform save a spot of varnish at the top that appeared to have been dripped on the blade. I have no idea why there was the clear varnish there but it was readily removed. The blade did well with some basic hacking on wood without edge deformation. The edge points at either end of the blade did allow for near puncture style strikes that would allow for the tommy to get a bit to pry at doors and the like. The spike was effective at punctures into wood and glass.

For the cost, this tommy is a good value. I have rotated around to the idea of a general purpose tool in the patrol bag that can be used as both a light rescue axe, window smasher and occasional wood axe. The only trouble I have with it is determining whether it was made in the PRC (something I tru to avoid as much as possible) or in non-communist countries.
