I got word Monday my friend Jimmy Gaydos had been murdered. He was on season two of Ultimate Survival Alaska. I met him when he responded to a ad I had placed for a Klepper kayak.
He shared my passion for wild rivers. He was a retired iron worker who had a business guiding wilderness trips. Although he was 69 he never slowed down. I still do not know the details of his death.

Authorities rushed to Gojdics’ home on Sunday when they heard about a possible shooting. Paramedics then found the reality star in grave condition with apparent gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Jimmy Gojdics’ death is now being investigated as a homicide, though there are no known suspects.

Can't find anything new. :o

I saw him last at a gallery opening I had in December. He called me a couple of times this Winter. He had befriended some prospectors who come up here in the Summer. It turns out they had big ranches in Texas and New Mexico. He was deer and bird hunting and exploring a new area. He planned to spend the summer in Haines in a cabin in the big trees on a river full of salmon.
I saw him in the store the day before he was to leaving for his reality show. He was very reluctant. He did not want to loose his summer. When I saw him in the Fall he said it was a wonderful experience. I known a lot of people who have been involved in reality shows and every one else had a less than pleasant experience. He said everyone onthe show was paid $25,000.The troopers are tight lipped. I heard rumors it my have been some one he rented a cabin to. Fox is a scattered gold mining area with a lot of interesting charicters

Read the comments on that article. We shared a interest in diesel vehicles. He always tried to talk me out of one of my Toyota diesels. Last year he flew out and picked up a vintage Mercedes diesel he bought off eBay.In summer he used vegetable oil in at least one of his rigs.
There have been no arrests yet. I have not seen an obituary and do not think he had any close relatives.
