It's been a while since I've been on this forum so please forgive my ignorance. I recently lost my all time favorite knife - McHenry & Williams 710 with black coated plain edge blade. I've been searching high and low to find a replacement. Has it been discontinued? I have seen some with the satin finish for sale. I'd love to get my hands on another black coated plain edge 710. Thanks!

Yes, unfortunately the 710 was just discontinued for 2017. For that reason, there aren't many left out there.

Knifeworks still has the awesome 710-1401 in M390, and One Stop Knife Shop still has the D2 model in stock (one of the only places I see that has any 710 left in stock).

If you want to replace it, those are probably your best options unless you can find something on the exchange. Better hurry though!

Loosing a knife always sucks.
Finding a black blade 710 is going to be chalenging.

Check out the FS section.

The black plain edge blade was never listed in any of the catalogs and didn't show up on a lot of the retailers websites either, so they can be tough to find. But they do pop up on the secondary market from time to time. There was also the old M2HS blade that came with the black coating and a few limited editions that can be found as well. 710DLC-1 with an M390 blade, 710-801 with od green scales and an M4 blade, & 710-02 with gray aluminum scales, black g-10 inserts, and a D2 blade.

The coated PE blades in ATS-34 and 154CM were always scarce and were discontinued fairly early in the production run. I don't think there were any PE D2 coated blades, but I could be wrong. All of the PE M2 (710HS) knives had coated blades. The M2 knives go for something of a premium but they're usually readily available on auction sites.

The 710BKD2 PE was discontinued in 2005. They are rare and hard to find these day's but do pop up every so often. Expect to pay more though due to it's rarity.

Best of luck!

They did make em in D2, they were just always hard to find.

Most people I know own at least a couple of these, if not more. Many of us consider the 710 to be The knife to start a collection, maybe these and the 940 series as a compliment. Can't believe they're discontinued, but life goes on.

Very good, I remembered only the ATS-34, 154CM and M2 versions (as well as a few M4 limited editions).
