I had this lumintop/ DROP brass AAA flashlight in my pocket every day for 3 years and it has been my absolute favorite.
I love the switch, the warm light of it's nitchia led, the output and modes, the size, and of course the fact that it's brass.

I am pretty sure the small hole in the liner of my jacket snagged the clip and pulled it out of my pocket, but usually it's stuck to my jacket when that happens.

I looked online and they seem to be discontinued, I checked the lumintop website and they no longer seem to offer an equivalent model.
I bought my first from a 3rd party vendor on EBAY and couldn't find anything on there either.
I just don't know what I'm going to do.
I have been looking all over the place, and keep reaching for my flashlight which I use so often to help find things but of course my flashlight is what I'm looking for.
I put my Streamlight microstream USB into my pocket temporarily, but it's just not the same.

If I can find one somewhere that would be great, even better if my light turns up but I'm loosing hope.
I am contemplating buying a Peak Eiger, but they don't have a click tail switch or a pocket clip.
I could probably live with the twist head if it had a clip because I like that it's American made and should practically last forever.
I've heard maybe the clip for a Maglite Solitaire or AAA MINIMAG can be used and I have one, but I don't like that clip too much and don't want to spend so much money on an aftermarket clip made specifically for it.

I know I could just get the AAA brass lumintop made for Countycomm/ Maratac, but if I'm having to settle for a Chinese made flashlight I don't want to settle on anything feature wise.

Well after continuing to search and even combing through my backyard with a metal detector thinking it likely happen when I was out back with my dog, I have kind of given up hope.
I went to the local grocery store this morning and noticed it missing immediately after returning home, so I went right back up there to look / ask and turned up nothing.
After all this I have lost hope, and just bit the bullet on ordering a Peak Eiger pocket model in brass with the high CRI led.
once it arrives I will try and come up with a carry solution for it.
Ideally I just want a fixed pocket clip, but if I have to settle for a suspension clip I will I suppose.

I suppose I needed a push to try out one of these Peak Eiger flashlights eventually, but I actually ended up finding my flashlight.

I was absolutely right that the small hole in my coats liner had snagged the light and pulled it out of my pocket, I was also right that it probably fell off.
What I didn't know was that it fell while my coat was hanging on the coat rack, and what was sitting on the floor below my coat? My work boots.
After searching the truck, the grocery store, sweeping the backyard with a magnet ( steel pocket clip) and metal detector, and taking the dog for another walk to retrace my steps it turns out that the light had fallen into my boot.

It feels so great to have my flashlight back, and I'm glad it only took a few hours to find it.
I'm still interested in checking out a Peak Eiger so I won't cancel my order, but I don't know if I can really give it much of a chance like I would if my favorite light was gone forever.
When it arrives maybe I will see if the clip off my brass lumintop fits, and if so I should be able to order one of these replacement clips from Countycomm.

I'm looking for something good.

I'm looking for something good.
Will do.
I saw a YouTube video from somebody who had an issue with flickering, but he was kind of looking for a reason and didn't even try to resolve the issue.
The comments were a mix.
Some who had experienced no issues and recommended cleaning the threads.
There were a few who did have very minor issues.
Then the rest were just piling on.
" any positive reviews must be payed ".
" USA just means overpriced ".
" blah blah blah features "

the size is about the same and I believe the max output is the same, so as long as I can come up with a clip and can get used to a twist head light again I may just like this light.
Everything seems right and ideal on paper so I'll be giving it a real chance, but if I don't like it I don't like it.

Not sure if they still make it in Cu or Brass, but in the event you lose your light again (permanently) Foursevens makes a single AAA light with tail click and a few different program options.

Thanks.
I looked online and it seems that they no longer make it.

I've had two foursevens flashlights. The switch on each light failed after about a year of infrequent use. I can't recommend that brand in good conscience. I've had Amazon cheapies that lasted longer.

That definitely sucks.
I have never had one, but they don't seem to currently offer anything I'd want anyways.

I don't have one, but this post got me looking.....
Lots of people like this. I didn't want to post a sales link. But $50
ReyLight Pineapple Mini Brass

I received my peak Eiger.

There is no lug on the back like I assumed, but thankfully it fits the lumintop AAA clips perfectly.

They really need to put this chart on their website.

It may not show very well on my dirty garage door, but this light is much warmer and brighter than my lumintop.

20250214_124126.jpgThe Lumintop has a bit more of a throw, but this Peak is putting out more light.

Now to the problems with this light itself.

#1 the battery rattles a little inside because there's no spring, a simple wrap of paper around the battery has completely solved that and it's really a non issue.

#2 That whole QTC thing doesn't really work on mine, it dims down better than it brightens up but either way it flickers and doesn't quite work in the lowest brightness levels.
Higher up it will stabilize after a couple seconds and on high it runs flawlessly, but not on low.

To be honest I usually only used the low mode on my Lumintop because it was sometimes just enough and I didn't want to click 5 times for high mode ( you rapidly click on /L off on/M off on/H)
Essentially just having 1 mode on this Peak Eiger is perfectly fine.
If the QTC dimmer switch type operation worked flawlessly I'm sure I'd probably find it useful and get accustomed to having it, but it's unlikely that I'll miss having other modes.
There was a time I didn't want any other modes and simply got used to it because I couldn't find any suitable single mode lights.
I'm going to give this light a fair shake and see how it works out before I really decide how I feel about it.

I have an update on the Peek Eiger.

I've gotten used to the twist head operation of this light, and I have not really missed the low modes.
When I do occasionally need other outputs of light I've got the little maratac chickpea ( lumintop frog ) hanging around my neck.

I did have a problem though, recently
It started getting stiff to turn on and then not really wanting to turn on at all.

I figured out that the contact nipple in the bottom was loose.
it sits in a nylon housing with a steel plug that seats in underneath it
I pulled that assembly out of the bottom and found that the steel plug had come unseated.
There was clearly a top and bottom to it but I couldn't figure out which so I reseated that plug the way it seemed to want to go into it's nylon housing and reinstalled the whole assembly.
I believe I put that plug in backwards because now it doesn't offer any dimmer outputs , but this has actually significantly improved the light.
It's much easier to turn the on now because I don't have to turn it as far or with much force.

In the end regardless of the issues I have encountered I quite like this light.
I can't recommend the peak Eiger to others unless I knew that these issues were extremely uncommon, but I still like mine and would probably buy another to replace it if lost.

Maratac has a copper Cree AAA on sale right now on their site

It has been about a month since I had to fix this light, and since then it seems to have broken in or something because now it is working pretty much just like ot was when I received it.

I like this light, but I would absolutely not fault anybody who got one with the issues that mine has had and is turned off of their products for good.
