First knife I've lost since I started collecting 7 or 8 years ago. Woe is me.

I brought it into the office Christmas Day to strop it a bit on my new strop set Santa (Mark Richmond) sent me. And that's the last time I saw it. I think I packed it up in my laptop bag and didn't clip it to a pocket like I did my others, because I had a lot of knives that day.

Here's pics from the last day I saw it.

Not that anyone cares, just wanted to vent. I'm pretty bummed about it. I love the Dragonfly 2 design, and this was supposed to be my "floatin' the river" carry knife and ride in my boardshorts this summer :grumpy:

That sucks...with any luck it will turn up somewhere you didn't realize you put it. If not, I suggest a serrated replacement...and at least you didn't lose an expensive knife.

That's what I'm hoping for. And I'm sure I will end up picking up a replacement by summer if it doesn't. I'll look at a serrated this time.
Advantages? I have a lot of sharpening gear and can keep plain edge H1 pretty sharp...

As long as you have a SharpMaker you should be able to keep the SE scary sharp. And it has advantages over PE depending on what you're cutting. I'll include 2 pictures...one of my CruWear Millie and one of my DFly. The leather was no problem for either knife, but the plastic sole plate (~1/4"-3/8" thick hard plastic) was easier to cut through with the DFly by sawing through it with the serrations. The Millie made it through fine, but the DFly was faster due to being able to saw through it.

i hope you find lost one or buy a new one, that would be better.

that's a great couple of knives...
i have a digi camo PM2 and a Dragonfly H1 serrated!!!!
talking about small knives, i prefer serrated ones.

H1 is work hardened. Due to more extensive grinding at the factory than a plain edge, the serrated edge is significantly harder and longer lasting. I'm not a SE fan, but I will pick up a Dragonfly H1 SE this year because of the steel performance. Sal puts H1 at the top of the SE performance scale.

Good to know!
Yeah, maybe I will pick up a SE Dragonfly 2 as a replacement.

Hey Rasco, I am generally a pe user but the difference in se and pe H1 is so great imo that I only buy serrated edge in my salt knives. It actually awakened me to how useful a se can be for certain cutting chores. The example that 3rdgen gave of a Dfly outcutting a millie on certain media is a good example!

I know you know your H1's Surf :)
Ok, SE it is!
I'm gonna be on BHQ all day Sunday refreshing on the Reate Horizon-C page, so I'll tack on a SE Dragonfly 2 to that order

I shoulda put 2 & 2 together when I said I last saw it on Christmas day.

Busted out a long-sleeve shirt I haven't worn in approximately a month and I heard something hit the floor.....

I knew in about 2 milliseconds, without looking, what had fallen out of my shirt pocket. And sure enough....
I'm actually kinda bummed I found it :p I was looking forward to getting the serrated version in the mail lol

Cutlery Shoppe has them on close-out right now for $48

What specific tasks do you prefer your SE's for? I might have to pick up one of these little guys.

Basically, any task that responds well to a more aggressive (low grit) plain edge will respond well to se too. Any job where a pe might tend to initially "slide" instead of bite is a good job for a se. Sometimes when I'm cleaning fish a pe will will want to slide across the scales and skin but a se will immediately "bite and grab". Cutting through a plastic bottle or something hard can show similar results. I'm not a se fanatic or anything but they are very useful for certain tasks and when you keep them razor sharp (which is quite easy with the sharpmaker) they are some really mean cutters and can do most anything a pe can do.

Yeah I was thinking they'd be particularly useful on things like cord and rope. The Sharpmaker is perfect for the SE. I've sharpened a few for some folks and that feeling of all those really sticky sharp teeth is very satisfying.

I've debated for a long time whether I needed to pick up a Dragonfly or not, and having a little variety with the SE to accompany a larger EDC might just give me the push I needed to order one.

Edit: Went ahead and got one coming my way. Excited to try it out!

I find the Dragonfly 2, in whatever steel or edge, to be one of the best little folders out there right now.
It packs a lot of potential into a fairly small package.

Thanks...you just cost me more money!
