I Love Case Knives, But...

...I have recently been looking at a lot of photos of GEC knives and I've got to say that I am starting to drool a little. I am seriously trying to resist collecting anything but, as "The Borg" say, "Resistance is futile" (at least it's looking that way).

Are they every bit as nice as they look?

Yes, yes they are.

Stu is right but don't give up on Case. They still make a great, quality, knife.

The GEC knives are very very well made! I have found that with CASE knives I almost have to inspect each one I buy before hand, and I do have some very very well made CASE knives. Some CASE patterns are better than others as far as fit and finish go. I have no problem ordering GEC knives sight unseen and they are generally almost perfect in fit and finish. I also think the GEC makers take their steel to a little harder point, making them a little harder to sharpen, yet hold an edge a little longer. My current favorite GEC patterns are the Ben Hogans and Powder Horn/Tooth pick. My favorite CASE pattern is the Trapperlock and Sway backs, although I will buy almost any knives I think I am getting a good price on, as well is an exceptional specimen of some other patterns.

"I got a GEC jones, I got a GEC jones, oh baby ooh, ooh, ooooooh . . . " :p

one day, Modoc ED gave me a GEC
And I loved that GEC
I took that GEC with me everywhere I went
That GEC, was like a GEC to me

I even put that GEC underneath my pillow
Maybe that's why I can't sleep at night
I need help ladies and gentlemens!

You got it, Stu! I'm still laughing!

"East Westchester Northstars, champions of the Southern Conference."

Sounds familiar!

Once, I asked a question about GEC. Flymon sent me a PM..........Free GEC to give.........no strings attached........He came into some GEC's and was just waiting for a likely person to give that one away to!

They are more expensive. But the fit and finish is there from what I have seen on the ones I have.
It showed up. I love it. I ordered more.

I don't have extensive experience with them. I have the gifted one. I also picked up 4 Schrade (GEC made), and have another 2 GEC knives waiting as a Christmas present to me.

Yes, they really are great knives, I have a few, two are very dear to me, and are my most used EDC's. Do it....just do it - then show us photos :D

They are great and I have a bucket of them - I just don't know what is going to happen if they up the ante with their stainless - 440C is the only thing between me and bankruptcy

Even if they just went to D2, we'd all be screwed

GEC knives are very nice. I have a fairly decent collection of them going. But I still carry Case knives 99% of the time. If GEC ever gets around to making peanuts, that may change.

:D

End the Fear, Suffer no more and try one, if you can stop at just one. :D

Own GEC's in 1095 & 440C and they are as nice as they are rumored.

They won't keep me away from Case, Queen, others though, that also make great a slip joint.

Well, I'm closing in on one of their Northfield whittlers. I can't stop looking at the pictures of it.

(And, I'm not giving up on Case knives. I still feel they are a great value)

I only own one GEC and tho the design of this particular model is not me cup of tea, the fit and finish is absolutely flawless. I love my little collection of Case knives but there will be at least one more GEC in my future.

I'll assume that's a 23. I agree; too big to carry IMO. The scaled down 73 at 3 3/4" is much more pocket friendly.
