In june this year I ordered a Ontario SP19 Task Force knife. When i recieved it, i was really disappointed in the factory grind, it was horrible, at that point i sucked at sharpening, so i just put the knife in my desk and "forgot" about it.
Some weeks ago i decided to reprofile the knife. I convexed the edge and made the serrations to my liking.
The serrations is now the best ive had, they doesnt get in the way when batoning or chopping, because they are much stronger now and they dont break if i hit them when chopping.
They are also super-effective and easy to field sharpen.
Now it performs outstanding at most camp knife tasks. The edge has incredible retention and it hasnt chipped out once. I now love this blade and cant wait to get the SP10 i ordered from chestnutridge
I will include some pictures and film of some batoning tonight.
First picture is from when the knife was new, the edge is only touched up a little with a fine grit stone. (its the knife on the top. the others are a thommes diving knife and a Fallkniven S1)
Second picture is taken right after batoning a full sack of firewood.
Two videos from tonight, -20°C and frozed spruce ( or is it pine? i allways mix those up)
