I love my Chaparral

I love my carbon fiber Chaparral. To me, it is the perfect pocket knife. Though I really like the Delica, the Chaparral makes a better actual pocket knife once the clip is removed. What has me excited is Sal's revelation that some new Chaparral offerings are forthcoming.

After the Caly3 the Chaparral is probably the next best light EDC they made. The Chaparral fixes every issue I have had with the Dragonfly. I don't like paying for Ti that much so I only have the Chap1. I too am eager to see what they have planned.

I hope for G10 or FRN so it will be cheaper. Spydies are very, very expensive, here. I am afraid to carry my Chap or Caly3 (love both) too often for fear of loss. Around the house, though, they see a lot of use. If they come out with a cheaper version I will carry a Chap everyday.

I understand what you mean about the Chaparral fixing all the issues with the DF. It certainly does, except one issue. My Nishijin and G10 DF's are much smoother and there was more attention to detail (slightly) than the Chap. Still, the Chap is overall a more desirable design.

Steve did an incredible custom job on the scales. It weighs less than the original carbon fiber scales!!

My CF Chap is actually smoother than my G10 Dragonfly. That's saying a lot because my G10 Dragonfly is very smooth.

Wow W1 ! That is a very nice Chaparral. I love those ironwood scales. I have not seen ironwood figured that nicely, before.

Jeez that looks mint !!
I'd like a timber or a micarta handled chappa.

Out of interest is the lock on anyone else's chapparal noticeably stiffer to unlock than their other spydys? Mine was, not sure if I just got a bad one.

The lock on my Chap was very stiff when I first got it. I bought it here on the Exchange as NIB so I'm not exactly sure of the history. The lock was so stiff that I finally took it apart to have a look. After a little cleaning I reassembled and it was much better (for whatever reason).

My Chaparral also has a stiffer lock than my Delica lock. Minor gripe I have against the Chaparral is that mine has some sharpish edges on the lock.

Very, very, nice Warrior1. Steve Ketchen is a true craftsman, I have a Stretch that he did for me in cocobolo. I've been quite content with my CF Chaparral, but I might have to pick up a spare and have him do something like that for me one of these days.

Thank you to everyone for the positive comments. Steve is the true artist here, I'm just the lucky recipient of his work.

Sal,
IMO, the Chaparral is the perfect EDC. These scales dress it up for a night on the town. Out of my 58+ Spydercos, this is now my choice for special occasions, where my daily favorite (Techno) might be a little "loud".
