I love my Chinook, but...

I expected a little more attention to detail from a $100+ knife. I expect some cosmetic flaws out of a factory knife, but I'm curious what kind of quality other Chinook owners have experienced. The important bits--blade, lock, and handle--are great, and the cosmetic flaws wouldn't prevent me from recommending this knife to anyone, but the thumb stop is quite uncomfortable in prolonged use, sharp with deep grooves. Apparently imagestation no longer accepts external links, so I removed my pic, but I'm reassured that this is a knife that should be returned to the factory.

BTW, I also recently picked up a Gunting Trainer, which is virtually flawless.

You probably should send it in it.
I didn't have any problems with mine.
Although I didn't really like the design.
I got a case of "that looks really cool" in the knifeshop.

Thanks for the reply. I am reassured that mine isn't typical of the examples others have received. I can do without it for a month or so, so I might as well send it in and get it right. I am still quite pleased to be a Spyderco customer given the obvious attention to design detail that goes into their knives. This in spite of my disappointment in the fit/finish department of 2/3 Spydercos that have passed through my hands. Thanks again.

The first Chinook I purchased had uneven grind lines along the swedge. They were very prominant so, I sent it back. I also had a Starmate and a Gunting that had the same problem. I guess it's easy to make mistackes on blades that have such complicated grinds.
