I love my Ka-Bar, but that baby Ka-Bar baffled me.

I couldn't figure out what it would be good for, I thought the thickness would be scaled down for the primary grind, but I thought it was a little too blunt for my son to use as a sheath knife.

So I did this to it. The pics are reduced because the work so far isn't very defined, and the quality is horrible. But the grind fits on the blade, and there is plenty of metal behind the fuller.

The baby next to the full size model with most of the blade trimmed back.

And the blade with more trimmed back, now on to hand sanding.

I can't wait to see the final product. I like it so far.

Looks like you've made a double edged knife out of it. Gotta be careful with those, it is illegal in some states to carry a double edged knife, and I think Cali is one of those. Looks like good work, do you use a belt sander??

Looks sweet! keep sharing the pics during moding process.
Does the fuller give extra hassle while shaping the new design?

Its a little tricky to grind because the fuller geometry will quickly turn into a hard to manage high spot if you aren't careful.

Well it didn't get a whole lot better, but in the interest of closure. Here is where it ended up.

From what I've read in the Knife Law forum, double edge are fine under Cali state law. You just have to carry them openly, not concealed there. Some towns/counties there have restrictions on length, but not on edges.
