this may sound like a girly post, but i gotta give kudos to my Native.
ever need to convince a g/f or a wife to carry a knife? here's why:

i was at school today and i saw my reflection in the windows. hair was good (tucked under a bandana), sweater a cool colour, but then i saw my jeans. damn. kinda too straight and much too narrow. since i had a few minutes before class i ran to the washroom. i perched my butt on the toilet (yes, with my jeans ON), whipped out my Native and made a straight cut up and along the hem from the bottom of my jeans.
it sliced through my jeans like butter...

a few minutes later, i had nicely flared jeans with no effort at all. it was wonderful.

guys: if your significant female others have ever doubted that a knife could ever be useful in their daily lives, tell them aXed knows how it can ;)

So far the Native is my best because it's actually short enough so that I could draw and open in one smooth motion with jeans that I wear.
I'm waiting for the vesuvius and renegade.

Okay so I tell you 'bout the Native and how I want it then you go out and buy the last one from the store I was going to get it from.

Hmmmmm....do you think you're still my friend? and yeah if you flick any knife in my car again then you can take the damn bus home!!!

Well actually I will be getting another one in the furture sometime. Just gotta wait for some $$$ to come trickling in.

I think I may get a serrated version although the sharpening does not appeal to me.

BTW I'm glad you love it so much and you're getting so much use out of it.

These kinds of stories are what make this whole knife frenzy so satisfying.
My girlfriend carries a a fully serrated Delica and Dragonfly...I'll be sure to pass on your story to her!!!

Damn, making it sound like the Native is a gurly knife.
This is the knife I was waiting for but whatever gurly story you say, I will still get this knife. I agree, it is a very good size knife. Now, I have the money, just gotta wait for that damn knife to come around.

Don't worry FC Yuk, it's not a girly knife :)

I don't carry it around the office because it is too big and the modified spear point gives it a slightly agressive look.
If I'm working on an overgrown site by myself I'll take something bigger like the Military or the Lil' Temperance. But if someone from the office is going to be with me on this overgrown site I'll need a small / medium folder that is not adverse to heavy cutting tasks, and in that there is no contest, Native all the way.

Bok and FC Yuk have some interesting symbols in their signature line.

I use Netscape 7 in English as my browser.
I wonder what the symbols look like in Bok's and FC Yuk's browsers?

I have started to use my Native in the kitchen in place of a regular paring knife.
I don't do it consciously.
I just need a knife and "click," the next thing I know I have my open Native in my hand.

I kinda forgot about that 'pimp' thing in my signature.

If I think of something better by tonight I'll change it.

I've had a native for over a year now, and it has been the best folder I've had. In typical knife knut fashion, I keep finding excuses to buy other knives, but the native is always the one in my pocket at the end of the day.... There's just something about that little knife that is perfect for EDC...

had my CE FRN Native for a little over a month(5 weeks), and find it great for kitchen duty.

the agressive teeth are not as good for boxes, but they rip into meat and veggies quite well. just used mine on an orange this morning.

I use most of my spydies for kitchen duty though, so it's nothing special... tonight is steaks though, and I'm not allowed to sharpen the steak knives... odd, but oh well... I'll at least eat well.

Hehe. The native is the best knife to cut meat with. Its my steak knife. I only carry it when I am going out for dinner with friends.

whoa! great feedback guys! i never expected so many of you to pay attention to my odd posts! :D

i'm glad you guys don't think i "girlified" the Native

BOK: OH MY GOD! HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO FREAKIN APOLOGIZE TO YOU! I'M SORRY I BOUGHT THE LAST NATIVE! AND I WON'T FREAKIN FLICK IT IN YOUR CAR AGAIN! ONCE AGAIN: I'M SO FREAKIN SORRY I BOUGHT THE LAST NATIVE! NOW STOP BEING SUCH A P*SSY AND BE MY FRIEND!!!!! :grumpy:

ps: BOK is so cool! he's a bombdiggity ragatagin' smooth sob. but don't buy a knife that he wants or HE'LL NEVER FORGIVE YOU! j/k!
now let's go for a smoke
pps: yes, BOK, i DO have bus fare

All's forgiven...I'm at peace with you...serenity now...serenity now...

Back to the Native...anyone have both a Gin 1 version and a CPM 440V?
How do they compare for your usage?

I have a GREAT deal coming up on a NIB Gin 1 Native but have little experience with this steel.

As long as you're a girl, we don't really car whether you girlified the Native or not.
It's kinda rare to have ladies to be into knives.

What makes a knife a girly knife? My wife adopted my Al Mar Pathfinder, which is a large khukuri-style blade, and heavier than a machete, with a large brass guard that would be at home on a medieval sword. Not to mention laying claim to my first Harpy, so I had to get another for myself. Being a lefty, I was thinking about getting myself a Native, since it has a reversible clip. I'd better buy two....

that's awesome to hear about your wife! :)

i can't wait until my Cold Steel Panga Machete arrives, it's not going to as heavy as your Al Mar Pathfinder, but it will be my first machete and i can't wait! it was a special order, kinda like a Christmas gift to myself i guess, so it might take a while, maybe i shoulda posted this up in the CS Forum? oops...

oh wells

There is no CS forum...nice score on the Machette...

Works like crazy but it'll rust if you spit on it. Mine is need of some serious love and care.

Could use a sheath too...

My wife does like her knives. She also has Jesters in both edges and 2 colors, a sheepsfoot-bladed Ladybug, MOD Ladyhawk, SOG Seal Pup, a Dawson spike-bladed nack knife, Emerson LaGriffe, CRKT Kasper Companion, Swiss Army Knife, and others I can't remember....

wow! good for her! the Jester is the next gift to myself, for the end of October, kinda made a bet with myself, so if i win it, i'll get the Jester!

crossing my fingers!
